HISTORY

Established in 1962.
Parkey's has been providing Cadillac service to it's customers since 1961 when we first opened our doors. Thanks to you, we have continued to grow and operate as one of Colorado Springs largest residential Heating, Air Conditioning and plumbing service providers. Roy D. Parkey began in the refrigeration business in 1955 but was frustrated at how the business had a lack of customer service and workmanship. In Xenia, Ohio, 1961, Roy started Parkey's out of the back of a 1955 Cadillac to fill this void providing his customers with Cadillac service. Roy and Sarah Ellen Judy Parkey were blessed with 3 boys and one girl. Oldest son was Monty, Tim, Mark and Robin, all approximately 2 years apart. Judy Tim's mother answered the phones in the early days while raising her 4 babies. Tim Parkey, the 2nd oldest son, began working weekends and summers at age 13.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

At age 15, Tim decided that this was the path upon which he would focus his life's work. He chose to attend Green vocational school for HVAC in his eleventh year of school. He also attended R.S.E.S (Refrigeration Service Engineering School) at night during the same period of time. His teacher at GVS placed him on early advanced job placement the 2nd quarter of the eleventh grade as an experiment, the results were outstanding. Getting to find meaningful work at such an early age was a huge blessing for him. Tim, being a hard worker and mechanically inclined found it to be a natural fit. And with a heart that enjoyed serving others, he found himself at the right place, at the right time. Due to a back injury, Roy Parkey decided to move to Florida which gave Tim the opportunity to own the company at an early age of 18. On February 12, 1973, Tim continued a legacy that has lasted 37 years.

I couldn't have appreciated more the service these guys provided.  Kudos to Mike and the crew ... my new gas line was installed on time and their bid was extremely competitive (read lower) than others I had received.  I loved working with them from the first call in to get the bid to the call from them off hours to help me with lighting the pilot on my gas fireplace (something that was not part of what I contracted for).  I simply don't buy the bad reviews and would recommend them to my friends and family!  Thanks, Parkeys!

I'm very sad to see the reviews by Eric and Andrea. The office I work for has used Parkey's forever and we find they have always been fair, honest, and have competitive pricing. The technicians always answer our questions even if it takes some research and time.
They are locally owned and make sure each transaction is handled as if they are working with members of their own community and not just numbers in quickbooks. I have never had an issue with them being dishonest or issues with the work they do. I have had second opinions and it doesn't get better than Parkey's.
I would recommend them highly to anyone.

Heather and Randi have no idea how to run an office and tack down correct information. As billing goes, Heather can't get that straight. They keep billing for something that has been paid out for the past 3 month. Harassment much? Well, we will never be doing business with them or name them as plumbing contractor and will advise people to steer way clear of this company. Heather will not relay any business to business miss-dealings to the owner Tim Parkey Sir so I'm sure he has no clue how those two are working the office.

We had Parkey's come out in mid December 2015 for a broken furnace.  The tech came out in bad weather and was on time.  It was very cold.
However, the furnace was not fixed.  In fact the tech did not do any testing; but the charge was $79.  We contacted the worker and advised him that the furnace was still broken.  I believe he said he had more calls to handle and did not come back.
I will not recommend this business.

I got Parkey's contact information from Angie's List and inquired about a repair for our hot water heater. We have a broken control valve and received a replacement part from the manufacturer. I inquired about installation of the part-- something that should be a relatively simple request for a professional. They outright refused. The woman told me that they do not install owner provided parts, even though the part is directly from the manufacturer.

These guys were great, had them come out replace an Air Conditioner at our house today.  Showed up in the one hour window we were given and got straight to work, and when he was done the only evidence he was here was the much nicer unit outside and a sticker on the new condenser downstairs.

Both Johnny and the technician (wife forgot his name, sorry!) were incredible and went above and beyond in service - we'll be using these guys if we ever need any HVAC repair again and will recommend them to our family/friends.

I had Parkey's install a heating system (boiler, radiators & assorted plumbing) 4 years ago.  Price & service was good at the time.  But since then I've had at least 6 leaks in the system.  I called them out for the first few while it was under warranty - most appeared to just need tightening, but required drywall work to get to.  I just noticed a stain in my ceiling, and found yet another leak - well out of warranty now.  The very expensive boiler is now leaking also, due to corrosion where it appears they didn't use a dielectric union between the copper & the steel.  I won't be calling Parkey's to fix it.

DON'T USE PARKEYS! These people are dishonest! My parents are getting ready to put their house on the market and decided to have their furnace looked at as it wasn't cycling properly. They called Parkey's as they had seen their trucks around for years and figured a well established business would be honest. However, the service guy who came told them that their entire furnace needs to be replaced because it was at the end of its lifetime, and that all the pats needed to fix it aren't made anymore. All of it were lies! It turns out the furnace just needed a cleaning and works fine now. I can't believe how intentionally dishonest Parkey's was, especially for being a family owned business. Its too bad a son is throwing away the business his father established.

Bought this house and have called these guys a few times as they were the original installers.  Have a heat pump with a gas furnace back up.  The heat pump works horribly well so I call them to come take a look.  Guy comes out, says he can't hook up the furnace as it needs to be flued.  Says he can do it for $895.  So the story is this...they came out, used my ladder and flashlights, and charged me $119 for a bid on a job.  I said you can't even take the $119 off b/c you didn't do anything on this call?  He said no and then used my equipment one more time to crawl himself outta my attic.  I know its only one guy but the system they installed in highly inefficient to begin with.

I spoke with John who said he was going to get me on the schedule and call me back.  He didn't get me on the schedule or call me back.  If that's an example of the company's business model, I'm not interested.

I scheduled an appointment on a day that I work from home. On the day of the appointment, today, I was expecting a technician between 8 and 9 am. A time window of an hour. As I am working from home, attending a conference call, between 8 and 9. No biggie right? The appointment was scheduled and I can answer my door when the tech gets here.

Well, I missed a call from the technician (8:12am) and then the office (8:14am). I returned their call in 26 minutes as soon as my call ended. Because I DID NOT return their call within 15 minutes or so (the voicemail I received), my appointment was canceled. Well, I called back within the or so time window, or so I thought and it was still canceled!

Just curious, what was your or so time allowance?

I provided feedback and it fell upon deaf ears. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Your company gets an hour and I get 15 minutes within the time you should be here or you cancel? Gotcha!

***Note to your company policy***
How about 'the office confirm appointments' with the customer 24 hrs in advance to avoid this mishap? Then it's confirmed. Most companies do this. Then have the driver call the morning of to say they are on their way and know the appointment was confirmed 24 hrs in advance and we are good to go.

I was here and ready for my appointment!

I will take my business elsewhere and refer others elsewhere. Make your time window a little bigger. My goodness!!!

Parkey's replaced our 2 furnaces which were over 18 years old.  They responded quickly and the technicians were polite friendly and knowledgeable.     in addition to installing the new furnaces, they also repaired some other items at no extra cost.  I would highly recommend Parkey's for any HVAC work.  Could not be happier.

Parkey's fixed my temperature compression valve on my water heater.  Dillion was so professional.  He immediately diagnosed the issue in the morning and returned that afternoon to replace the part.  He was also meticulous about cleaning up the copper piping. He was very good about explaining the issue and my safety features.   Impressive.  Accolades to Parkey's and Dillion.  Happy Birthday, Dillion.

Had an issue at 1am with sewage coming up shower.  Called Parkey's as in advertisement in phone book says 24 hours.  When I called, spoke to a woman who contacted their on call.  On call gentleman called me back but stated he had no snake.  Who puts a person on call for a plumbing business without at minimum a snake?  Not sure if that was a valid reason or just an excuse not to have to come out.  Dependability--zero.

Never trust their quote over the phone!! I gave them every details the heater to be replace and they gave me a seemly reasonable price. I took time off for the installation.  The plumber came next day then told me the office made the wrong quote and he doubled the price which I refused.

I wish I could give ZERO stars.  We were totally swindled by these crooks when our AC stopped working.  Overcharged for everything and it wasn't even fixed.  We called someone else out who identified the problem and basically told us that everything Parkey's SAID they did, was actually never done.  They also charged us appropriately which was half of what we paid these jerks for literally not fixing anything.
We were robbed.  And their techs work on commission which we didn't know.  STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

I used Parkey's in January for a new furnace install.  Not only did they provide a fast, fair quote but I thought the person coming out was honest about the project, gave me lots of options and never tried to upsell me more than what I wanted.
The Lenox brand they carry is excellent with great reviews.  They installed my furnace on time with complete electrical for a new thermostat and cleaned up after.  They walked me though how to change my filters, which ones I would need, how to use the new thermostat...Overall I was very pleased.  Now that winter is upon us again I called Parkey's to do a filter change, clean and inspection of the furnace.  They were quick to inform me that the project is covered under their 1 year maintenance plan and it would be at no cost to me. I appreciate that they provide this service.
I would recommend Parkey's to anyone.  They are not the cheapest but the price is right in the middle and the products and service are top of the line. You get what you pay for and Parkey's was worth every penny.

Stay away from these rip off artists! I had them come out to a rental property to replace a cold water line under the kitchen sink. Plumber K**** called to tell me the job would cost $79 for the service call and about $125 for the work. Plumber K**** said he would call me to let me know if replacing the ice maker line connected to the cold water line cost more. Ok, that's $204 and he would call back if it was more. I gave plumber K**** permission to proceed with the work.

Some time later, plumber K**** called to tell me the final cost is over $450 because he went ahead and replaced the ice maker line. WHAT?!?!? I had already purchased 25' of ice maker tubing from Home Depot for $8. Plumber K**** never called me like he promised if the cost would be higher. And my actual bill was more than twice what plumber K**** quoted.

I called the office to complain and got R***. She said she made notes of my complaint and told me Mr Parkey would get back to me later that day. It never happened. The next day, R*** called back to tell me they decided there was nothing they could do. Her exact words were I don't know where to go from here.

R*** told me that they never perform work without the customer's permission. Since this was a repair job at a rental, I asked her who the customer was. R*** replied it was me - the owner/landlord. But she said the tenant gave plumber K**** permission to replace an $8 ice maker line for $250, so that made everything ok as far as R*** was concerned. R*** characterized my dilemma as a communication problem between me and my tenant.

R*** never once asked me what it might take to make things right. She never asked me what a fair resolution would look like. She just kept repeating how helpless she was. Had she asked me, I would have suggested splitting the difference and not writing this review. But R*** was only interested in talking, not listening to her customer. And after two weeks, I still haven't heard from Mr Parkey.

Can you trust this company to perform the work they were hired to do, or will they find excuses to add on unnecessary and costly extras when you're not looking? If there is a problem, do you want to deal with people who are not empowered to resolve them quickly and fairly? Do you want to do business with a company that ignores its promises?

I paid the bill. I will NEVER use them again. And I will take every opportunity I can to tell people about my bad experience.

I have worked with Parkeys on 3 occasions now since 2016.  I recently had a new furnace installed at a rental, a new circulator pump for our boiler and they helped with a warranty with our boiler right after we moved in to our current residence.

I've worked with several HVAC companies here in El Paso County and in the Denver area over the years.  I'm very pleased with most of the protocols and service I have received from this company.  I feel I can count on them in an emergency and the communication that I value has been present when dealing with serious issues I have had.

I particularly like the gentleman who installed a furnace recently named Hugo, who actually took pride in his work and wanted to make sure my questions were answered.

If you are looking for a reliable and efficient company that communicates well, I recommend this one.  One more thing. I know the big question for many is the price when comparing with others.  I don't feel overcharged, but from working with several companies, it can cost you more in time, money and mental health when trying to quote the cheapest all the time.  The communication part is a difference-maker when evaluating what you need and how comfortable you may feel when working with them.

Bad experience. My furnace issue was a dirty heat sensor. The repair guy took out the sensor, cleaned it with a sponge, and put it back in. Literally took him 2 minutes and they charged me $260. Asked the guy to clean out my furnace since I was billed an hour of labor, when it took him two minutes.  He said he would have to charge me another hour. I don't know if all HVAC companies are like this,  but i will not go back to these guys.

Terrible customer service, and I am not sure they even care!  In August, 2018 had a new furnace, water heater and air conditioner installed.  Paid $13,000 cash.  You would think I would be a preferred customer... I had my furnaced serviced early August before the busy season in Fall when you would have to take the day off just to get the service.  Technician  came over and checked everything out and completed a Precision Furnace Tune-Up Checklist and checked all items as having been reviewed and working.  Turned on my heater this week, and the furnace did not turn on.  Called Parkey's to explain that I have my furnace serviced August the 7th, and everything was reported in A shaped and condition.  The first thing they told me is that it would cost $119 to send some one over and that they next available day would be October 16.  I told them that I should not have to pay for this service because I had already paid them for the tune up, and the technician signed saying that the furnace was working.  So here I am on a Saturday and given a window from 4:00 - 8:00 pm for emergency service.  It will be interesting to see if they still have the audacity to charge me.  Well, they just lost what would have been a good customer, and I seriously can not recommend this company to any one, which in the long run will be their loss.  DO NOT CONTRACT WITH PARKEYS

Seems I'm not having the best of luck lately. And Parkey's has added to that run of bad luck. Here I am at 9:45am waiting for someone to show up for my 8am appointment... The longer I wait the more vacation time I'm burning.

UPDATE:
At 10am I called Parkey's and reached their answering service. I got a call back a few minutes later, the gal apologized and said that they hadn't gotten around to their scheduled appointments because of emergency calls. Hmm, it would have been nice to have a courtesy call. She said that a tech could come out at 6pm and they'd do me a favor and not charge me the after hours fee. Wow what a great favor!

So, at 6:16pm I get a phone call from a tech. He said he is responding from Woodland Park and would be at my house at about 7:15. Hmm, that's an hour and 15 minutes later than the scheduled time.  I agree to that, only to get a call back a minute later saying that he has to go to Cripple Creek first and asks if 9pm is ok. Sure, what the heck...

The tech calls at 8:30pm and says he's finally on his way, but from Cripple Creek so he would be at my place at 10pm. That's the final freaking straw and I cancel.

Really?! 14 hours after my scheduled appointment, and after wasting 4 vacation hours. That's RIDICULOUS.

No way would I recommend Parkey's to anyone. Ever.

I completely disagree with the other review!  These guys were fantastic!  I had several companies come out to do an estimate, after I met Tim I canceled the rest of the estimates.  He was very honest, straight-forward and organized.  He was willing to work with me as I am on a budget and was able to get the work done right away.  The pricing was very fair, the customer service from other individuals was great as well!  I would highly recommend this company!

I have used Parkeys before about 10 years ago. Didn't have a problem at that time and everything seemed to go fairly smoothly as I recall. Used them again to install a humidifier on a new house furnace. I have to say that the original contact went a bit clunky and they missed their appointment time but they had a great service tech who came here. I was very pleased with his work and consultation. It seems like this might be a common issue about missed appointments and information. Sounds like an easy fix if management puts some time to it.

We discovered extremely wet carpet which led to water coming from an interior wall of our house, so we called Parkey's.  Kurt came out shortly after our call (maybe within an hour) and began to diagnose the problem.  He checked a few possibilities before cutting into the wall.

Once he opened up the wall the culprit was discovered.  Though he did not have the correct size of replacement pipe in his vehicle, he did return fairly soon after going to get it.

Overall, the repair went as smooth as could be expected.  My only issue was the price seemed a little high for the amount of work that was actually done but I didn't have much choice.

Had a furnace inspection  scheduled (2 months in advance between 12 &4).  Never got a confirmation call from them so called and confirmed at noon.  I called again at 4 to see if they were still coming to which they said yes.  A technician finally called back and said they were on the way and should be at my home by 5.  I got a final call at 6 from another tech and he said they might be able  to show up by 7 pm long after we had another engagement.   Never got a call over the next few days.  If there was a problem call, tell me and reschedule.   No communication from them

Man, I really hate being HAD!
Called on Saturday because the water line was leaking from our swamp cooler.  We were told that the service call would cost $139... okay.
Tech told us that our line was leaking and recommended copper line.  Told us he would call back with an estimate... fast forward to WEDNESDAY where we had decided that copper line wasn't in our budget, and we wanted to use the same plastic line.  Sure, it'll only last a couple of years, but the plastic line kit at Wal-Mart is less than $20!!! We had to call THEM to get our estimate.  No apology about the delay.  Told us that we're not even in their system, because the tech hadn't submitted it, yet!  What's worse is that she said that it's NOT uncommon for that to be the case (quite defensively, I may add).
5 minutes later the tech called us ( no apology for the 5 DAY DELAY for our estimate) to tell us that they ONLY use copper line, and that he could come today and install it for $695.  No thamks... today it's going to be in the 90's... I'm out $139, and was provided nothing but mediocrity, excuses, defensiveness,  and frustration.
DO NOT HIRE.

Purchased a new air unit and a bolt-on humidifier:

Unit and humidifier: 5 stars
Technician: 4 stars
Follow up by original sales manager: 2 stars
Administrative side of the business (scheduling inspections and overall communication): 1 star. Huge hassle factor!!

We made a huge investment and expected better follow up and clearer communication. There were several scheduling mishaps and slow follow up after I reached out. The technician was prompt, efficient, and professional, and our unit works great, but we were disappointed with the other aspects of the business.

We have been Parkeys customers for over 3 years... But NOT because of their customer service OR overpriced fees.

We stayed with Parkeys for ONE reason... A master plumber on their team, Eric.  Eric was amazing, dependable and knew (or replaced) all of our plumbing. It was because of Eric that we paid more and tolerated the poor customer service.

Today, was the last straw (sorry Eric if you still are working at Parkeys). Last Monday, we had scheduled an appointment, with Eric, to fix the piping under the kitchen sink. It has been a challenge since it was replaced during a kitchen remodel. The pipe is too short, gets loose and water floods the cabinet and kitchen.

I felt, because it had been looked at/adjusted multiple times, an emergency call fee was unacceptable, so we were scheduled, with Eric, between 8-9am today. No show!  At 12:15pm, I received a voicemail from Rob stating that he was on his way. I returned the call at 1pm and was told he was sent somewhere else and I would have to be rescheduled. Interesting, as we were scheduled with Eric this morning.

We are done... Goodbye Parkeys.

We had someone come out to install a dual valve between our sink and dishwasher. We were charged a total of $313 for 10 minutes of work. The guy screwed a valve in, reconnected lines, and left. We were absolutely overcharged and taken advantage of by this business. The $79 trip/diagnosis fee in and of itself is overpriced, but the remaining charges of over $200 is completely unethical. I can't stress enough for people to stay away from these people. Their business practice is criminal at best.

Don't bother getting a quote for bathroom remodels frParkey's. They charge $79 to come out to even take a look at the job. There are plenty of companies in town who don't charge for quotes. We got a free quote from Olsen Plumbing who has been in business twice as long in this area. Affordable Plumbing also came out free of charge and was recommended by HVAC Solutions who installed our furnace. Parkey's sends out a ton of marketing via those coupon envelopes. Parkey's, maybe cut down on the marketing costs and save customers a buck or two.

Response to response: when I called for a quote for a bathroom remodel, the person on the phone told me it would be $79 to come out to take a look at the job. I was sure to say BATHROOM REMODEL. When told there would be a charge for coming out, I said no thank you. So, I would not be in your system. I'm rather surprised by the company response. I had expected, Wow. I'm so sorry you received that information. We'd like your business, so do call back so we can set up that free estimate. Jodi, I've left you a message.

We really wanted to like Parkey's. They have great reviews and when we have called them they have been super friendly and responsive. But we need our water heater replaced and we are hesitant to call them with the lack of quality service. One time had heater checked out, the tech destroyed the filter and didn't tell us. Didn't find out for at least 3 weeks later we didn't have one, which is fine but he should have told us. They couldn't find info on the first time we called them to look at the water heater., ok cool that is ok. We told them about the past issues and replaced a part....tech didn't give us the option to replace the equipment at that time or do a fix. Told us AFTER that this would be the last fix and maybe only last a few months. Between the pervious service and that one was close to $800, in less then a year. If we were informed and provided options we would have decided to replace instead of dropping another $400 some dollars for a temp fix.

I had been using Parkey's for decades, but no more. They had always seemed a bit pricier than others, but I thought that reflected quality. Several months ago, I had them come to fix a drip on an outside faucet because winter is coming. Repairman charged over $200 to replaces internals of the faucet. I was relieved that he did not have to replace the entire thing. He checked the pressure on the water heater and said it was way too high and that I needed pressure flow inline at the source and existing one was probably broke. He put one inline, but left the old one in place. Total charge for the day was around $700. We thought the new water pressure seemed low, but we assumed the expert knew what he was doing and how do you know by touch what the correct pressure should Be? Pipes stated banging at the source occasionally and we wondered if it was our water heater. After a few months of low flow showers, dish washing, and banging, we figured something was wrong. I called in another company to check, and sure enough, the pressure was at 40, half the limit of 80. Things work great now and no banging pipes with pressure at 65. I do not know if Parkey's even checked the pressure after installing the new valve, but they certainly did not adjust to a usable level. The old valve in line was not a contributor to the problem, and we left in, adjusted for full flow. I had heard Parkey's plumbers work on commission, and therefore look toward maximum charge, but this business model, paired with incompetence is one to be avoided.

We had Parkeys install a furnace, tankless water heater and new ac unit in July of 2013 and were happy with their service. Fast forward 4 years and we put our house up for sale to discover that the permits were never completed. I called Parkeys to be informed that it was nothing to do with them and that I should hire a contractor to re open the permits and have system inspected by regional planning department. So much for customer service and standing by their work. Receptionist just said dont blame me I don't not work here then. I was told that she would talk with owner and I asked that he call me. Still. Waiting for the call. No money in it for them so no interest for them to follow up.
They were happy to take our money up front for their work but never completed the permits that we were charged for. Bunch of thieves stay far away.
