Ocelot Plumbing

Ruben is professional, on time, and very competent. We had a number of plumbing issues in an older home with non-standard plumbing fixtures. After trying 2 other plumbers that provided unacceptable service and did not get the job done (even though we paid them) Ruben came through; no BS, no problems, and we feel very good about the work. He even fixed the problems that other plumbers created. His rates are reasonable and he did not charge us for additional effort to find unique parts.  We highly recommend Ocelot Plumbing.

No question, Ruben does quality work. You can tell he's been doing it a while, knows a lot about products on the market and quality, and is concerned with doing a good job. In fact, after turning on and off the water line for a fix, there was some debris in the faucet, but I didn't know it at the time. He came back at no extra charge - which seemed to me the proper thing to do - but he did it quickly and with a smile. Will definitely use Ocelot again.

We did a steam shower in our new master suite and Ruben and his crew did all the plumbing work for it.  It came out great and I use my steam shower several times a week, after workouts and to just get hella warm!  Price was reasonable and the work was solid, it's been over a year and no problems whatsoever.  I would highly recommend Ocelot for a job like this where you want a personal touch and have someone with years of experience to help you out.  I would attach a photo but all  the work is behind the tiled walls, but trust me it's all working beautifully.

Definitely would use Ocelot plumbing again. Both Ruben and Atticus were awesome putting up with a myriad of questions with humor and professionalism. He installed a new toilet, washlet and three spigots .. the toilet was a bit different than expected so it was going to take more time and possibly cost me another hour of labor. Final cost came in just a smudge north of original quote despite a little more tricky install of a skirted one piece toilet (hate the other designs) and the addition of a toto wash let. I was pleasantly relieved . Recommend without reservation.

Ruben responded to a short notice plea for help with a leaking hot water tank.  One guy I spoke to before him jumped straight into the conclusion that we'd have to replace the tank to the tune of $1000.  Ruben came out that afternoon and fixed it on the spot for one tenth that price.  Gotta love that.

We found Ocelot via Yelp when our bathroom sink just stopped draining.   Ruben came over, explained everything and pointed out that our toilet was like 20+ years old.  He was totally cool with us buying a new toilet and then doing the install.

His team was professional and thorough  They were familiar with old house quirks. And didn't mind their supervisor, our fat orange tabby cat who despite us moving regularly chose to lay in the hall and help.

Last night the back water pipe broke in my wife's hand and there was water everywhere.  We called Ocelot and within 15 minutes got a call back.  Ruben stopped by on his way home from an errand with his wife and turned off our water.  He's at our house right now fixing the broken pipe and making sure we have water by the end of the day.

Ocelot plumbing is the best! Rueben is a wise and experienced man who works quickly, efficiently, & expertly. He does a great job, plumbing can be tedious & dirty, but he works with a smile recommended!

I can't praise Ruben highly enough. The work he did was far beyond my expectations. I was coming to grips with the harsh reality that I finally needed to have all of my ancient original galvantized water pipes from 1916 replaced. Ruben and his three-man crew did the job and soooo much more. They did some rerouting of pipes, they removed a ton of absolutely unnecessary pipes from an old laundry room that use to exist--and numerous other things that brought my plumbing situation from the 1900s to 2018. They even snaked all of my drainage pipes for the hell of it! All for the original price that was quoted--which was incredibly reasonable for a three-man-team (they also hired a guy to deal with the messy job of cutting thick-rooted juniper shrubs and digging up a clean strip in the front yard to get to my front yard. So I guess you could say it was a four-man crew). And I could write an entirely new review praising his work ethics but I'll just say he communicated every single chore that needed to be done in detail but in friendly layman's terms. They were always on time and apologized for the slightest inconveniences such as noise or shutting off water for a short period. Great team.

I don't think I have ever written a review on yelp before but felt compelled to after meeting Ruben today. Our water heater (from 1991) busted yesterday and we needed someone promptly and at a fair price. We called around to several plumbers and I could tell over the phone that Ruben was the guy.

He came to replace the water heater on time, let me know what he was going to do to improve the set up and gave me some other helpful plumbing tips. He was super friendly and interesting and did a great job. Really stand up guy and I would definitely hire him again. 5 stars for sure!

I have found my plumber.  No more having to search on Yelp on Craigslist to find a plumber I can trust.  Reuben answered the phone, he was prompt, and he got the job done and for reasonable rate.  After he left, I wasn't left wondering if I had been robbed.  He takes the time to explain the issue and process to you.  Oh yes, he cleans up and disinfect afterwards.  I am very pleased.  I will definitely call him again should I need any plumbing service.

I worked with both Ruben and some of his team (Alex and John) over the course of two weeks. Ruben was great at installing a new kitchen faucet for us (our prior one was leaking and had zero pressure), and the following week, Alex and John came out to replace out 50G water heater (the older one was leaking into our crawl space). They were all super easy to talk to, conscientious about their work, very communicative, and overall, great to work with. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. They are definitely our go-to team, and Christina is also a joy to work with to schedule appointments.

These guys were great!!  As a homeowner with a rental unit, taking care of plumbing problems is a priority for me.  My water heater was leaking and needed to be replace ASAP.  Ruben and his team showed up with a new heater the next day, were able to deal with my demanding tenants, repaired the damaged subfloor that I was unaware of and didn't charge me a arm and a leg for the unexpected work.  All this without me having to take off of work and meet him in person for the estimate.  It just took one phone conversation, a simple exchange of funds, and three hours of work.  On top of all that, his prices were very reasonable.  I'd definitely would use him again.

You need a plumber? You need to call these guys! Our next door neighbor recommended them to us, and we called for a small issue. Atticus came and took care of it quickly and professionally. We decided to have them take care of some other work for us. This time, Ruben, the owner, came. What a NICE guy! He was so friendly and we enjoyed talking to him while he was working. He took care of everything making sure it was done well and right. He highly values the quality of his work. Atticus came in also with another helper, Ocean, and they are also really personable guys who clearly share their boss' work ethic and respect the reputation of his company. This is the best experience I have ever had with a plumber; Ocelot will be our go-to for any plumbing needs we have. Oh, and they don't break the bank either. Ruben is very reasonably priced. Ruben was referred by another plumber who couldn't come on very short notice. He kept in touch with us about the scheduling and replaced the leaking gas line in a very short time. I was very pleased with the service, his positive attitude and experience and - even more - the reasonable price!

Our home in East Oakland was build in the twenties. We love our home and have over the last 19 years made some improvements, except the water piping. We have a pending estimate with Ocelot Plumbing that we will start soon but in the meantime, we have rely on Ruben to trouble shoot our shower piping and other small quick repairs. I found Rueben here on YELP.COM. Ruben was the third plumber that we called. He was the only one who finally fixed our shower issues. Two other plumbers before him would advice the most expensive route which means breaking the walls and repiping. Rueben is very polite and honest with his work. Very determined to do his job. Highly recommend him!

I can't say enough nice things about the team at Ocelot Plumbing. Christina in the Ocelot office helped straighten out a scheduling conflict with great attention to detail and consideration for my situation. Better yet, she made sure two plumbers were at my house, bright and early the next morning, ready to fix what turned out to be only a small problem with my kitchen sink.

Ruben does all my plumbing work.  His work is always professional, clean and well organized.  Other plumbers I have worked with always got the work done but didn't seem to care about how their work looked or how much room it took up in my basement.  Ruben has installed 4 on demand hot water units for me, rebuilt my main sewer lateral and always answers my calls to fix the small things that go wrong around the house.

I am so grateful to Ruben for fixing my clogged pipes. Trying to run a household without using water is so difficult, I was at my wit's end when I finally found Ruben (I had a back up in the main line for over a week while I wasted time with other plumbers who didn't fix the problem). He is knowledgeable, courteous, efficient, responsible, honest, thorough, and reasonable. That's what you need in a plumber, right?

my copper pipe leak was fixed in 10 mins. they charged a fair price, which was given to me in my initial call to them. (2) other plumbers i talked to were going to charge to just show up and give me a pricing after. are you kidding me! for a small job like this ...

anyway, solid guys, solid work. i have no doubt i will be using them again for all my plumbing needs.

Ruben and his guys were great!  Would and will use again.  They were great, I had them come in to do the plumbing for a new shower.  Ruben was on-time, communicated well and got the job done according to spec.  Even better, his price was very reasonable.  He does the type of work that gives you confidence that it will get done and will get done right.  I have recommended him to friends and associates.

Ruben plumbed a rather complicated retrofit of a kitchen and shower into a small rental unit. He did a great, high-quality job.

It was a pleasure and honor to have Ruben and his team remove our old 25 plus year old undersized water heater and install a new high efficiency 50 gal water heater as well as reroute the gas line, redo some copper plumbing, add a pressure regulator( we never had one)  and run new copper piping to the exterior spigot and install a shut off valve all in 1 day. Rubens' tradesman-ship is bar none the highest quality and timeliness of project completion was a pleasant surprise. He also gave my wife and I some design and plumbing ideas for our mster bathroom remodel. I would highly recommend Ocelot Plumbing for small or large plumbing projects!

great and totally reasonably priced plumber. came in for one simple thing and wound up fixing a few other issues we had and still charged us one price. will definitely call them again for future work as other local plumbers not only charged more but never really fixed the problem. i feel like these are the guys you call when all the other people can't do the job.

$140 dollars for a washer to be changed. This is pretty insane. Invoice stated Hot side faucet rebuilt. Not quite, actually this was just a washer replacement. Prices charged are insane.

Can't say enough about Ruben and his team...they made it look so easy and did an excellent job of moving the washer dryer down in the basement. And also putting the dishwasher. If you want stuff done to the code and don't want to burn a whole in your pocket, you are in good hands.

These guys are great! Ruben knows what he's doing (I shoulda listened to him the first time when he said the dish disposal brand I owned was no good -- he managed to get it up and running for another six months, but it had a spectacular fail later, which he has since cleaned up for me.)

He had a trainee with him this time, named Ocean (great name!), and you could tell Ruben really knew what he was doing while training. Last time he did what he could to salvage an existing disposal unit (at my request since money was tight). Despite the plastic housing his fix held for another six months. At that time he also noticed and fixed a hazardous situation with the electricity connecting the disposal unit (installed by previous tenants). He also fixed an exterior garden hose leak and repaired a loose handle on a bathroom sink.

This time he installed a better disposal unit, cleared the clog caused by the old unit (now my kitchen smells much better), and installed a new set of pretty hardware on my tub/shower combo. The results were very neat and clean and look good, so they have an aesthetic sense/pride in work.

These guys are amazing! Called and spoke to Ruben on the phone just after lunch, and had a member of his team, Alex, at the house later on in the afternoon. He was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. Replaced the troubled section of the gas line servicing my water heater within an hour and now good to go! Thanks for the quick help in a pinch, and will definitely recommend Ocelot.

I manage a few older buildings and apartment complexes in Oakland and whenever I'm stumped or in a bind, I call Ruben/Ocelot Plumbing and they are always great. I had a pipe burst in a wall and they came out and helped me though the whole thing (late at night to after midnight) and then came back the next day to help me figure out what was going on and what needed to happen.

If you care about such things...working with people who are honest, smart, and interesting. ..In other words, people you trust and enjoy,  give Ruben a call. You won't be disappointed! He doesn't charge extra for solving the problem faster or better, or for the money-saving tips.  You will not say goodbye hoping never to see him again. Our tenants complained about noises coming from their water heater for some time. We have had several plumbers come to work on that water heater, but in less than half and hour, Rubin diagnosed the problem of too much water pressure going into the water heater. He turned down the valve, lowered the amount of water going into the water heater, and the problem seems to be solved.
