I accidentally saved this review in my drafts far too long but I must share it -- I recommend this place so much. Saved me twice in January 2016. Both times, he came out right away and was able to make the repairs same-day for a very rise price.
Here's the full story... Or stories, I should say.
First: my water heater. It was the Sunday of New Years weekend (read: a 3 day, holiday weekend). At 6:30 am my dog woke me up freaking out. I followed her downstairs to find 1-2 inches of water on my tile. Turns out my 20+ year old water heater busted and 30 gallons of water were gushing out. After turning off the water and spending an hour cleaning up the puddles, I went to Yelp to find a plumber. I was already thinking I wouldn't be able to get someone that day--or if I did, they'd charge me an arm and a leg. Most places were closed but I called J&K, got through right away, and he actually said he could be over that morning. I think he got there in less than an hour!
He checked it out and confirmed the water heater definitely needed to be replaced (it was 30 years old). He told me he could fix it the same day if I wanted him to. He gave me his recommendation for 2 water heaters and mentioned that for one, I'd have to wait because the place to buy them wasn't open Sundays, but the other place was. He named a price, and it was what I expected for a water heater replacement. I figured it'd be hundreds more for the urgent weekend call, but nope, very fair! So I said yes, absolutely, let's fix it today!
He drove from Hayward to Milpitas and back again, along with an assistant, and I was doing laundry by 3 or 4 pm that day. Amazing!
Second: Kitchen sink faucet. About 3 weeks after the water heater incident, my kitchen sink totally lost water pressure. Barely a trickle, and no hot water. It happened on a Tuesday night, I called Wednesday morning at around 8 am. I was working from home that day, so I said if he had any availability, he could come by at any time. He said he'd get back to me. He called me a little after 9, asked if they could come over, and they were there by 9:30. (His first AM appointment wound up not taking long so he had time before the next one).
He looked at the faucet--which was very loose, and twisted back and forth at the base. After some poking and prodding, and trying to flush out possible sediment deposits, he said he suspected the copper pipes inside were bent because of the looseness of the faucet. He'd have to remove the faucet to know for sure, but he showed me a faucet he had on-hand--which he said was a type he recommended (and I did some googling to confirm reviews--it checked out, and he was honest about the price). Gave me an estimate--again, SUPER reasonable--and said if he could fix it he could, other than that, he'd replace it. And he could do it right then!
He opened up the faucet and confirmed it did need to be replaced. I appreciated that he actually called me over to take a look and explain it, too. Basically, inside of a faucet, there are several small copper pipes. Since my faucet was loose and has been twisted back and forth, with each twist, it was gradually constricting the copper pipes. Finally they were so scrunched, barely any water could get through.
So I had a new, working faucet less than a day after it had stopped working, and he was done in time to make his next appointment on time. I was so happy.
Not to mention I LOVE the faucet -- I've had it over a year now and I'm so happy with it. It's very functional and appealing.
