I can't say enough about how great Rene was. He gave us a very fair (and the best) estimate and got to work the same day. He had to cut through some concrete to get to our pipe that was leaking. He brought a camera on a cable and checked the rest of our sewer line to search for any other leaks. He is a pro and when you talk to him you can tell he really knows what he is doing. We recently bought a house in the Oakland hills and needed to get a private sewer lateral certification. I spoke with several sewer companies that are highly rated on Yelp and all of them recommended that I do a replacement costing anywhere from 5-8k.

Rene came to do an estimate and after running the camera he told me that we can try to do the PSL certification test without the replacement.

His people did an air pressure test to make sure it would pass, then they scheduled the official inspection and we passed the test.

Willing to scope my sewer line for free in order to give an accurate estimate. Team was on time, worked quickly, efficiently and solved our sewer block.

I've been searching for someone to help me with my sewer lateral for months. Out of 11 place I called, 5 never show up to give me quotes, 5 showed up with expensive quotes and Last was Rene. Rene and his crew were super friendly and understanding my financial circumstance. They came the next day after I contact him, he gave me the quote and what  I need it and explain to me clearly what need to be done. About a week and half later they showed up with all the permits and got the job done. Him and his 4 crew were super friendly, I am super satisfied with my result. Rene was efficient with our sewer lateral repair, his team did a great job and best of all they were the most affordable option we found -- by far. We asked Rene to adjust the job twice, first to fill in a sink hole that was discovered around the sewer lateral and then to make some small repairs to our sidewalk as required by the city after our move. He was very flexible and completed the whole job for exactly half the price of one of the big company's that offered a quote. Highly recommended.

Rene and his crew performed a great job replacing our sewer lateral to receive the 20-year certificate for our home from East Bay MUD.  California Discount Rooter and plumbing were able to come out on Saturday to give us a quote and he also performed a quick check of the integrity of the pipe using a camera.  He gave us two options, one a pressure test for a 7-year certificate and a pipe replacement for the 20-year certificate.  Ultimately, we decided on replacing the pipe for our ease of mind for the next 20 years.  The California Discount Rooter was able to replace the pipe and have it inspected by EBMUD in half a day within the same week of getting the quote.

I was looking for someone to do a sidewalk inspection/estimate to comply with the Oakland ordinance - I wrote California Discount Rooter & Plumbing a message via Yelp and was asked for my contact information. I replied, waited a day, and didn't receive a response. I tried calling then just to expedite things, and was told to text them my address and they would come out the following day to take a look. I texted, then waited another day hearing nothing, then texted again to ask if they were really going to come out. They responded and said that they would come out and send me a quote the next day. Another day passed and still nothing. I understand when things are busy and maybe their quality of work is great, but the communication provided was not confidence-inspiring.

Like you, I reached out to every plumber on Yelp in the East Bay area for a quote for a sewer lateral replacement. What I discovered is the more reviews a company had, the larger the organization they were, and the more money they charged.

California Discount Rooter and Plumbing is a diamond in the rough. A well run small business, which means you get personal service and the best price. Rene (the owner) was responsive every step of the way. They took care of all the permitting, putting up signs to block off the street, EBMUD inspection and replacing the concrete they dug up. Rene took care of all the steps.

This was a great company to work with and I've recommended CDRP to my realtor so he can get more business. You should give him yours too.

I had to get my sewer lateral replaced because of the requirement for a certificate from city of oakland.
Rene was excellent in providing a free estimate and then keeping me updated on all the work that he was doing. He completed the work and coordinated with the city of oakland to inspect the lateral and get me the certificate filed.
I'm happy to report many months have passed and I don't have any problems!

We had what looked like a relatively easy plumbing/sewer fix and I got a few quotes.  Other guys said 'we gotta dig it all up, it's going to cost $$' but CA Discount was able to fix it the easy way (barely any digging, put a new 2 inside the old 3) at a reasonable price.  Communication was great, with both the manager and the workers.  I would use them again for any plumbing needs.

The price was right but they did not follow through with the complaint of the hammering.  They came over and told me that it was something that was in the installation of the sink laterals that they did not install.  I keep calling for them to come back and fix it but they said we will call you back when I look at my schedule.  Well they never did and it keep banging.  I called a plumber friend of mine to look at it and he said that they mounted the hot water pipes right up to the joist with copper brackets.  He had to fix it by putting in plastic brackets that keep a gap between the joist and pipes.  He also said they used M copper pipes and the code now is only to use L copper pipes (just saying). There were a few other things that they did that was not that great but you get what you pay for.  I went with Ca Discount Plumbing because they were the cheapest.  FYI just make sure you are on top of them with what supplies they are using and that they do not use copper brackets to mount the hot water or you will have the banging sound that will drive you crazy!   Better to make sure that the banging does not occur before you write your check.

Rene was fantastic. He came out for no cost and found my leak, provided an estimate and completed the work the next day. Would work with again, very professional.
