My tub was not draining.  I called Art Douglas and they were able to come fix it the same day!  They were friendly, polite and professional.  Justin showed up on time, fixed the drain quickly and didn't leave a mess!  The price was very reasonable and up front, I recommend Art Douglas to anyone who needs plumbing work done.

Called Art Douglas Plumbing to clear out our root clogged pipe from the house to the street. Robert arrived in less than two hours and solved the problem quickly and professionally for $99. I highly recommend this business for plumbing and air conditioning service. (Last summer they quickly responded and fixed our air conditioner when it went out in the hottest part of the summer. )

I honestly cannot say enough about this company! I have three homes, two rentals and my primary residence. ANY time I have a plumbing issue I call them. I've probably called them 10 times over the years, everything from clogged mainline to replacing my water heater at 8pm on a Saturday, their response is super fast and the customer service is out of this world.
.
Today I called and spoke with Andrew, he got me set up in minutes, sent over Josh who replace my bathroom sink, super nice guy and he was done within a couple hours. New sink looks amazing!
.
.
Reasonable prices outstanding reliability. I'll never call anywhere else.
.
Loyal customer forever.

Recently we used this company for some repair work.  The plumber was industrious and professional.  In order to complete the repair, he needed to remove the trap under the kitchen sink.  After he completed the task he was there for, he reinstalled the trap and left.  The next day we discovered the trap was leaking.  When we called to have the leak fixed, we spoke with Doug.  He related they weren't responsible for the leak and would charge us for a 2nd trip to fix the leak.  His attitude was reminiscent of the backside of a large equine.  Then he hung up on me.  This is a customer service business.  The work they originally came for was just fine, but how they stand behind that work?  Just my experience.

I called to have a drain line cleaned in one of my rentals. They
promptly went out and were probably there for about 15-20min, cleared
the line and charged me $100. I asked for an invoice to be sent to me
via email so I could pay. Well, the owner, Doug, called me at 6:45am to demand payment and left a
voice mail on my cell phone. He then called again around 10am and
proceeded to tell me he doesn't send invoices until he is paid. Told me
that he doesn't want to work for people like me, told me he didn't need
my business, told me I was a slum lord and not worth the $100 service
to him.  WOW, Is about all I can say.  Again, I told him to send me an
invoice and I would pay gladly. He finally just sent the invoice and I
will send out a check. Contractors must give you an invoice to legally
get paid and I must have it for my records. I'm so disappointed, I thought I had found a good plumber to
work with and instead I just got treated so disrespectfully for NO
reason at all. What an awful way to treat people, I would recommend him to no one as he doesn't need my business or any new clients he said.

Richard N.-- I called Art Douglas on Saturday morning due to a leaking water heater. Andrew the dispatcher was very polite and told me all technicians were on jobs, but he would send somebody out as soon as possible. About an hour later Andrew called back and said he had someone available. A few minutes later Josh, a Master Technician, arrived. He was very courteous, helpful, and efficient. He explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. I was fully satisfied with the service provided and would definitely call them again. An added benefit is they don't charge extra on Saturday, and they provide a visit and estimate at no charge.

I needed rescuing from my DYI mishap so I called Art Douglas.  They sent out Jerry who fixed my issue within 20 minutes.  He was wearing a mask, very polite and knowledgeable.  Second time I've used this company and I highly recommend them!  Ask for Jerry!

Please, do not use this company,  If you do, be sure get a second quote.  My shower handle started to drip, so I called Art Douglas plumbing,  cannot lie the free estimate was very enticing But as you learn in life nothing's really free.  The technician came out within an hour and a 1/2 first off he went in my shower didn't put anything down and got black all over the bottom of my shower.  He spent maybe 5 minutes in the shower didn't  really do anything and I  was informed that, the the ring that held the cartridge on the handle that was causing the drip had calcification and he couldn't get it off. He would have to cut a hole in my wall behind the shower and replace all the valves, then I would have to hire someone someone to come in and re sheet rock the wall, texture and paint it at another expense to me, which by the way, they knew someone that could do the repairs. Now just for the plumbing cost alone I was quoted was $725.00. Not including wall repairs. I told him  that I would think about it and that I didn't have that much money right now, because i knew this just didnt sound right and I was going to get a second quote. Long story short I had someone else fix it and the ring came right off and wouldn't you know they didn't have to cut a whole in the wall and now my shower works perfect, no drips, new fplate and handle all for $100.00.  I feel because I am elderly and a single woman this company tried to take advantage of me and do work that was not required to make a buck.  Always get a 2nd quote, there are lots of people out there trying to take advantage of elderly people to make a dollar.

I would never buy an air conditioner from this business again. I bought top of the line air conditioner 3 years ago and it has gone out every year and this year it broke down three times. I do have a warranty, but should an air conditioner I paid close to 10,000 dollars break down this often? This last time it broke down they said they need to replace a panel or something. Well, I just got my electric bill and it was 400 dollars....i have solar panels and have had them for 3 years. It's never this much. I'm very frustrated because it seems no end in sight of the piece of junk I've purchased.

SOOOOOO frustrated!  I called on  Sunday because our toilet and shower were not draining,  so I'm aware it was going to be an ON CALL situation.   I called at 1140 am to ask if they are willing yo come out on a Sunday and the response was YES.  I then called the landlord to call them to place the order.   Landlord calls me back at 1240 and says she tried calling them but customer service says we never called them to request them to go out.  ANYWAYS...Landlord says just call them back and I can just pay for it, we'll deduct from your rent however much it cost.  1pm I call back explaining I was going to pay for it and order was placed.  430pm.....I call back to Art Douglas and same customer service guy answers and was surprised no one had contacted us yet.  He then puts me on hold, calls the ON CALL plumber, comes back to me and said...oh, he said he never got my text from earlier but he is aware now and will call you right back.  530pm....I call back since  no one has called me. This time another customer GIRL answers, she puts me on hold and calls the ON CALL plumber, she comes back to me and said...oh, the ON CALL plumber says he won't come out unless your landlord calls in the order BUT it would have to be for tomorrow.  I then said....well, how come when I called at 1pm and at 4pm this afternoon you guys said the plumber was going to call back NEVER was I told it had to be the landlords order or nothing.   Regardless, I was going to pay for it!!! They MIGHT HAVE just said they didn't want to come out on a Sunday and I could have called another company.  The job would have been done!!! The ON CALL plumber was probably just lazy and lied the entire day about not getting the text and now the order...what a crappy  company this is. What a bunch of lying ass lazy people trying to string you along.  They might as well said, NO we don't work on Sundays.  I hope the owner sees this review and make internal policy changes!! I wouldn't be surprised is the ON CALL PLUMBER  was the owner.

Being our AC was in desire need of being serviced, I called a close friend to ask who they used for their AC needs. They have been extremely pleased with Art Douglas. I called and scheduled for the following day. Steve arrived on time and was friendly, professional, polite, knowledgeable and thorough. He asked questions regarding the history of our unit. Initially, he checked the Freon and shared with me how much a unit holds and how much I need, prior to assessing the rest of the AC unit. Taking into consideration how old our unit is, I was the one who questioned about a new unit. Steve was patient and very thorough in answering all my questions regarding our existing unit and a new one, without any sales pressure what so ever. Not wanting to put too much money into an old unit, I told Steve it would be wise on our part if we purchased a new one. Steve was generous with his time, and I was pleased with his attention to detail. He explained the features of the new unit and how it's installed, and replaced the thermostat and set up the Sensi thermostat on my phone.
Omar and his crew arrived the next morning and installed the new unit. They were professional, courteous, and devoted to their profession, working hard the entire time. They kept me informed of the work they were doing, which I appreciated. Upon completion, Omar was thorough in explaining all they had done and he reviewed all warranties and the Superiorcare Agreement with me. Quality service is guaranteed! It is obvious Omar and his team take great pride and pleasure in what they do and working for Art Douglas. They truly care about their customers and their quality of work. We very much appreciate the prompt, professional service and will most definitely be calling on them for future maintenance AND plumbing as well. We are enjoying our new HVAC and appreciate the one year service plan which is included. Overall, a great experience, a great team, great service, and a great company! Thank you, Steve, Omar, Mario and Team!

A stress saver is all I can say about Art Douglas's Plumbing.   Our storm drains were clogged during the last major storm and we were leaving for vacation.  The backyard was flooded. What can I say?   I went on YouTube to see how I could clear them and the only solution was hydro cleaning the lines.  Art Douglas was our solution.  I called at 1pm. and they were at the house  at 3:30 with the drains cleared and cleaned by 4:30.  Amazing service and very friendly staff.

My 82 year old mother's AC unit wasn't cooling on 8/16/16 so she called Art Douglas Inc.  They came out and after a little while decided that she needed a new circuit board.  The tech went and got one, installed it and charged $477.  Never saw the new one or the old one.  On 8/24/16, her AC went out again.  Called them back and now was told that her unit had 20 pounds of refrigerant rather than 13 pounds and a multitude of other issues had arisen.  They could fix for $3400 or replace the unit for $13,000.  She called me (I live two hours away) and when I spoke to the manager and asked him how the additional refrigerant got in the unit, he became very belligerent and said they didn't do it and to get a second opinion and tried to hang up on me but he was on my mother's phone!  I called a HVAC contractor in my area and they said the only way for additional refrigerant to get in a unit is for someone to put it there and that you would have problems within a week or two.  We have since had another HVAC person fix the unit by replacing the TVX valve which Art Douglas said was no longer available for her unit.  I called the company on 8/29/16 to speak to the Owner and of course the manager called me back.  He denied any wrong doing on his part, period and when I requested reimbursement for the circuit board because we don't even know if that was a problem, or quite frankly if it was even replaced, he said no and hung up on me.  It's apparent to me that this company is the low of the low and to take advantage of senior citizens should be a crime!!  Beware of this company!!!

FIND ANOTHER PLUMBER!! THEY SCAMMED AND OVERCHARGED MY ELDERLY MOM!! HORRIBLE COMPANY!!

We had a gas leak and had Art Douglas Plumbing come out. They did a pressure test and were able to find the leak but said that it would be $3500 or more to fix. We got a second opinion and got it fixed for much cheaper but they called me and said the pressure test is $150. This is my mom's house and she is elderly so I was trying to handle it for her. I told my mom that the pressure test was $150 and we were fine about paying that but JERRY from Art Douglas showed up at her door and told her it was going to $750! She told them we were quoted $150 but they insisted it was $750. They then said they would take half off and charged her $350. My mom paid it because she said she didn't know what else to do. They took advantage and an elderly lady who felt helpless! Shame on them!!

They didn't do any plumbing in my home, but one of their employees hit my car with their work van and didn't leave a note. I tried on numerous occasions to reach out to the manager or owner and never received a call back. So I filed hit and run charges with Clovis PD.

Unfortunately, I have to write a bad review for this plumbing company. I rarely do this & I feel bad about it, but I know it will be helpful to others when deciding a plumber to go to. & I only gave one star because there's no option for no stars as this company put our lives in danger!!
To start, we had a carbon monoxide issue in our home that was coming from our hot water heater. We had pg&e come out & they had to shut off our hot water for our safety. He told us that it wasn't ventilating properly & we needed the ventilation to be fixed or replaced & it also needed to be checked to make sure it wasn't giving off anymore carbon monoxide into our home.
So, we call art Douglas plumbing & a man came out. To start the guy was in & out in 10mins, which is cool had he done his job right. He took a look pulled the vent down 6inches & said it was fixed. You could tell he was in a rush to get out of here. & when we showed him the hazard warning paper that pg&e left us about the carbon monoxide, he said he already looked at it & everything was good. He wasn't thorough what so ever nor did he explain how everything was supposedly fixed.
We called pg&e right after to make sure everything was safe as we don't want carbon monoxide poison & he said the plumber didn't fix anything!! & they had to turn the hot water back off!
So thanks for nothing to this company! Consider a company who cares about their customers especially when they're dealing with fixing a problem that has to do with something as dangerous as carbon monoxide! Had we trusted that everything was fixed we would probably be in the hospital due to carbon monoxide poisoning! How awful!

Unable to complete a simple repair.  I hired them to install a new garbage disposal. I purchased the garbage disposal.  Art Douglas charged me $265.  A few days later, I noticed the connection between the dishwasher drain hose and the disposal was too tightly clamped resulting in a whole in the hose.  I asked them to come back out and fix it.  I also asked for an explanation.

A second plumber came out and decided it was not an easy fix.  I was referred to the service manager who explained that the dishwasher drain hose was not the right size to connect to the disposal.  I asked why the original plumber had not simply replaced the drain hose.  I was told that he was concerned about getting the job done quickly for me, so he did not replace the hose.  I was told to buy a universal dishwasher drain hose from Home Depot, and then another plumber would come out to fix the problem.  I did.

A third  plumber came out to fix the problem.  He spent about 5 minutes clamping the broken hose to the hose that I bought before connecting it back to the disposal.

Two dishwasher uses later, the dishwasher no longer drained.  I called Art Douglas again.  The second plumber came out for the fourth visit to my house for a garbage disposal installation.  He quickly looked under the sink before informing me that I had purchased a low quality dishwasher drain hose, and that it was irreparably damaged... after two dishwasher cycles.  He explained that this was my fault and left.

For the record, the drain hose I bought was the one I was advised to buy.  At this point, I don't care that I overpaid for low quality inept work.  I would not let them back into my house to plumb anything, even if it were for free.

I wish I could give them another rating.

My water filter popped it's top this morning so I had to turn off the water to the house. (A task made considerably easier due to the ball valve they installed) I called at 6:30 this morning, and by 7:30 Justin, one of their best guys to be sure, was here. He removed to defective part and got our water back on. They will return next week to replace the part.

Here's the kicker. The entire ordeal is covered under warranty. They COMPLETELY STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK.

Do I ever call anyone else? Forget it. I even use them for our rentals now. I've found cheaper plumbing service in Fresno, but none better.

Thanks guys.

My late mother-in-law used this plumber, as it was close to where she used to live, and she was happy with their work.  I therefore, followed in her footsteps and used them on a rental my kids own and on their own house.

I will not be using them anymore, as (in my opinion) they charge way too much for their work.  Their plumbers attempt to up-sell on everything they do (in my experience, at least).  Bleed me once, shame on you.  Bleed me twice, shame on me.

Years ago, my father was teaching me about business and he was showing me ads in the yellow pages.  His advice was that he would not deal with the guy who has a two-page spread, as it costs thousands and thousands of dollars for that advertising.

Make up your own mind, as I have.  Do they do good work?  Yes.  Are they affordable?  Not for me.

We had a bad smell in our closet,we thought it could be a broken sewer line, called this company, when the guy showed up, from the get go he said it is probably a dead animal in the wall, he did test the gas line for leakage  by going to the attic and then did a pressure test on the gas meter, at the end he said, it is probably a dead animal as he smells it, I was reassured that it is not a major gas or sewer line  leak, his total work time was less than  hour, I was ready to write a check, he asked for 320$, when I asked him if he is serious he said this is after  a 30$ discount. anyway I paid and decided to write my first ever review online, this is a rip off and abuse of desperate people.
Problem not fixed, have to wait for the animal to decompose.

Mediocre prices , great encounter with staff and scheduling staff. My experience with Jerry from this company was outstanding , very knowledgeable and helpful . Instead of being lazy like other plumbing companies we had encountered , jerry fixed our main problem efficiently , and gave us better recommendations. He emphasized a family company ownership and made me feel apart of it. I'll be coming back and recommending this company because of jerry. Thankyou Art & Douglas & jerry !!!

Well.. I had a interesting experience with this company...My main line broke and I needed help with the repair. I called several companies and decided to pick Art Douglas Plumbing.  The guys that came out were very nice and started on the job. My main line was under my drive way and so to position it so we didn't have to put it under the drive way again...they decided to demo my approach to my drive way...which is the city's territory. Well the repair  went right along and everything seemed OK .  The problem for me was that I was told to repair the damage to the approach.. So I called the city of Fresno street repair to ask them for advice on what kind of concrete to use.  The man on the other side of the phone said ( What?)..I told  him that I had a main line break and that the only way to repair it was to demo the approach. He asked me if Art Douglas Plumbing got a permit from the city to do this repair.  I said I guess they did...I don't know. He asked me where I lived.  He and another man from the city department were at my house right away. They were very surprised  that this company never got a permit and they damaged city property. Well..they called Art Douglas and set in motion a expensive repair to the approach. I had my car out of the drive way at the time of this approach repair and in the late evening when the concrete was hard I put a plywood sheet over the repair and rolled my car over it to put in the garage. I was sensing the anger that this company had towards me and I didn't want my car out all night. The next day while my son and his home school teacher were having a meeting at my home...someone knocks loudly at my door. I open it..and it is the son that has part ownership of Art Douglas Plumbing.  He asked me if I was finished.  I said( I don't know  what you mean). Then he cussed me out in front of the teacher and my son. He told me I was a Fucking Cunt. He was very mad and used other profanity on and on he went. I reminded him that I had a child and a teacher present and he said (I don't Fucking care). He called me the next day after learning that I was going to turn him in to the contractors board and send a claim to insurance they carry for their business. He wanted to give me my money back..which I excepted.  The main line that they put in started leaking  in 2 months. It was fixed and it has leaked in 4 more different spots since. Since the day of his outburst no one from Art Douglas Plumbing has been at my house. The repairs have cost me alot of money and time.  I do not recommend this company at all.

We had new floors put in, and the toilets have to be set and sealed. I called at 10 and was assured they could get out at 4:30 when the crew would be done for the day. Called at 5 and was told someone was on the way. Called at 8 got the exchange, who hooked me up with a plumber who didn't like my attitude (I was miffed considering what I been through) and refused to come out when I argued that it wasn't fair to charge after hour prices. We use this company in my workplace, but not any more. Not trustworthy.

Just an update to the actual service that they provided. In addition to coughing in my  house during Covid  I found that the brand new washer that I didn't ask them to fiddle with when they put in the utility sink will no longer fill with water. Of course I am sure that they will have a ready excuse that places responsibility for this directly on my shoulders evrn as they refused to take responsibility for what I consider unsafe practice during Covid.
What I find very odd is that given the stories of abuse on Yelp, they seem to have positive reviews..
At least with me they've engaged in an irresponsible, patronizing, entitled fashion.
Hlow on earth  have they managed to stay in business so long?
I had thought that perhaps their longevity would reflect a maturity, a type of accountability for the health of their customers. Don't you hate it when a company claims to care about the safety of your home and yet they are a threat to it?
Every time I look at their claims on their ads I want to puke.

AWFUL!!!  Such a ripoff company.  They broke a hose when conditioning my parent's unit causing water to leak then wanted another $95.00 just to have one of his guys to go up and look at his mistake!!!  The owner called and threatened to ruin my mother's credit if she didn't let his guy go up on the roof!!  STAY AWAY and find a reputable company.

We were grossly over-charged for a new hot-water heater and install. When Jerry from Art Douglas recommended we get a new heater instead of fixing our old one, we agreed it was a good idea. We now regret not doing our homework and researching costs for a new hot-water heater. We were taken advantage of and sold the heater and install for about $1,000 more than we should have been.

I would place a negative star, the only thing positive was that they came on time!!  I called yesterday and asked for an estimate, the guy on the phone tells me he would have to send someone out to look at it.  Which is fine, I asked him if the estimates were free, he said yes!  So the plumber shows up, he automatically tells me, he would need to run a camera to look in the sewer line to find out what's wrong, and that's going to cost me $325!  I told him I thought estimates are free!  He said they are, but the camera is not free!!  Wow!!!!  I don't think they know what the meaning of a free estimate!!  I have had other plumbers come before this company, and they did not charge me a dime to run their cameras and give me an estimate!!  Anyhow, I tell him what I need done, a street spot repair, he tells me at least $15,000!!!  Really?!!  Are you serious!!!  He said permits and digging up the street etc., will run $15k, It doesn't even cost me $15,000 to replace the entire branch from the sewer main to my house!!  That's with everything dug up, control and redirect traffic, county to come out, and with permits!!!  If anything the trench-less line, would cost me less than that!!!  I had previous plumbers quoting me between $4-4800!!!  They don't know what they're talking about!!!  I told the guy thank you!!!  I don't need their service!!!!  Wow!!  Super disappointed!

Art Douglas Plumbing was called to my mother's home to look at a hot water heater that was not working.  My mother is 89 years old and lives by herself.  Their solution, a new heater installed for $1475.00.  The water heater they provided is a model that is available for about $600.00.  Essentially, they charged over $800.00 for about 2 hours of labor.  To make a long story short, they replaced a Whirlpool heater that was only three years old and still under warranty.  The serviceman did not provide a diagnostic invoice or cost to repair estimate.  They only invoice that she has is for the purchase and installation.  Even though this was an obvious swindle of an older woman, they advertise a 10% discount to senior citizens that was not calculated into the bill.  This is not the first problem I've had with this contractor but it will be the last.  Doug Biggerstaff (owner) has not responded to my written inquiries.  I will have to escalate my demands legally for any satisfaction on behalf of my mother.

These guys are great!  i had an emergency leak under the kitchen faucet (aren't all leaks emergency?) and Andrew said he would send someone over right away for a FREE ESTIMATE!  [note; i was told by other plumbers that they would charge $110, and even $150 for a call out).  Technician Frank came right out and found the source of the leak and gave me a FREE ESTIMATE.  i was thoroughly impressed and will use them for my future plumbing problems.  Thanks Art Douglas!

Called them to inspect my garbage disposal. They came out and suggested that it be replaced as it was leaking. Was able to get a coupon on the website to use. The technician was fast and very knowledgeable. Great company to work with. Will recommend and use again in the future.

F***ing idiot so said Doug, the owner/general manager.
Never had such a negative encounter.  Then he slams the phone
and hangs up.  Upon seeing other reviews, I see a distinct pattern
of abuse.  Avoid this company unless you enjoy confrontation.

Recommend: Vern's Plumbing and Heating.  They came out within
an hour.  Their professional staff resolved the situation satisfactory.

Had to replace flush valve in Toto Toilet.  Came out and advised he needed to order part and would get back to me.  Two days later received call telling me that the part has been discontinued and I had two options replace the toilet for $850.00 or the tank for $400.00 (assuming it included installation and take away of old toilet since original cost $430.00).  Advised him that was the wrong answer and then went online and in 30 secs. found a company out of NY that had discontinued Toto parts.  Ordered on line for $32.00 and arrived in 4 days.  Called Verns Plumbing and had it installed in 30 mins.
Lesson.  Don't trust them they lack professionalism and service to customers.

I bought 2 sink sets for my master bath and 1 for the kitchen.  I was quoted one price and then another mid-way through the job because the job spec sheet didn't include putting in the sink hole piece (they wanted another $190 for each sink just to do that!)
The whole job was going to cost me around $700, but I complained and the guy gave me a discount.  The total was $525 for 3 hours of work and I supplied all the parts.  This company is wayyy to expensive! They charge by the job and not by the hour and the rates are sky high.

Beware of this company....I would give negative stars if I could. They were called out to hookup a simple existing copper tube to the ice maker by my tenant. The guy who came out became perplexed at looking at the existing copper line. He removed it and put a cap on the fitting saying the refrigerator leaked and couldn't hook it up then left after charging $180. To make a long story short my tenants woke up to water saturated hardwood flooring in the kitchen as well as the hardwood in the adjacent Family room because water was leaking directly from his fitting cap... Over $14000 damage! I called and asked for Art Douglas the owner and the person said he was Art. I kindly told him of the issue and would he please come out so I could show him the damage and cause ...He was short of telling me to F*** off and said he already talked to his guy and wasn't going anywhere, then suggested I contact MY insurance company (where I have a $1000 deductible)... Their ad says senior, veterans etc. discount...good luck with that...Wonder what the contractors licensing board is going to tell me? They should be ashamed to even call themselves plumbers. Wish my tenant had read all the bad reviews here before calling such a shady company!

John came out to fix our kitchen sink within 30 minutes of calling. He was prompt, friendly and fixed our issue. He explained to us what had gone wrong and made us feel comfortable about how to avoid it moving forward. We very much liked our experience with John and Art Douglas Plumbing and will be calling them for future needs.

FIND ANOTHER PLUMBER!!!!! I REPEAT, DO NOT GET YOUR SERVICE FROM THIS COMPANY!!

I recently got a free quote from these guys( come to find out, paying for a quote gives you much better service.) they came out for re-piping. One day later my whole back-yard was flooded with water. I called, at the very least to hear them take responsibility. Never got so much as an apology for leaving my water bib open, causing my new water hose to burst. When working someone's home, there should be a high level of care and integrity. This company has none. If you're looking for an honest company who will cover their mistakes, look elsewhere! I guarantee their are better plumbers!
