J&H caused a FIRE in my home and its insurance company refuses to compensate me for my losses.  J&H was hired by the property manager to repair a leaking shower in a vacant apartment next door. Apparently, J&H did not recognize the hazards of welding near flammable material and the plumber left the premises unattended for the evening (at approx. 7 pm).  By midnight, I was left homeless with thousands of dollars in damages to my personal belongings as well as the premises. An experienced company or anyone with the slightest amount of common sense would not have done this type of work in a vacant apartment at night.  According to the property manager, there was no urgency to do the work that evening rather the plumber showed up late for the job. J&H's insurance company, Scottsdale Insurance Company, did not contact me for 3 months after the fire.  According to the property manager, J&H's owners did not immediately involve their insurance company because they were more concerned about an increase in their premium. It's now been over a year and Scottsdale Insurance refuses to compensate me the mere fraction of the total damages sought. J&H holds itself out as experienced and insured.... Its actions and that of its insurance company speak for themselves. INEXCUSABLE! Anyone seeking to hire this company go elsewhere!  It's not worth the risk in dealing with a company that refuses to take responsibility for its carelessness.

I scheduled J & H Plumbing to replace some existing hardware in one of the bathrooms in my home.  Prior to my service, J & H Plumbing requested I send photos of the fixtures I wanted replaced and of what I wanted to replace them with. I loved this because it gave me reassurance that we could do this with just one service call.   On the day of service, Adrian, the plumber sent by J & H, took a look at what was to be done, and stated that the Price Pfister hardware I had purchased could not be installed to replace my Moen hardware without tearing into the wall and replacing the valve (which I didn't want to have happen).  THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD TO ME BY THE PERSON REVIEWING THE PICTURES I SENT IN ADVANCE.  I am not a plumber, so when I hire one, I expect them to do their due diligence to inform me.  Adrian left without charging me (because he had done no work and knew I would be calling J & H back after I had returned my Price Pfister hardware and purchased Moen); however, he returned to my house minutes later saying that J & H was requiring him to charge me for a service charge ($62.50 after my $10 off coupon).  If my plumber would have informed me of this hardware match-up necessity in advance, this service call could have been avoided.

Four days later, Adrian returned to install the hardware.  On his invoice, he stated that his work was tested and was OK.  I was charged $319.45.  We left to go out of town shortly after the install and did not have a chance to try it out until we returned a couple of days later.  When my husband tried to turn on the faucet for the shower, it was nearly physically impossible (and he's a pretty strong guy).  I called J & H, and they sent Adrian out again.  This time he replaced a cartridge in the valve, and we were charged $169.30.  On this invoice, he stated that it was not related to the work done a few days prior.  If Adrian had truly checked the faucet when it was installed, this service call could have been avoided. It was NOT OK.

I have used J & H Plumbing for several years and have recommended them to my neighbors and friends.  Because of my great frustration this time, I wrote a lengthy email to Jon Hopkins, the founder of J & H Plumbing, explaining every detail and asking him to reconsider the charges we paid in light of the facts.  He said the things I brought up were out of his control.  I asked him to restore my faith in J & H and the goodwill that existed before this latest experience.  Instead, he blamed me for buying the wrong brand of hardware (which he should have verified before the service call), and told me Adrian was honest and truthworthy and that the faucet worked fine for him when installed.  I also am honest and trustworthy.  I am not hard up for money whatsoever and am not distorting the facts to get reimbursed.  However, I cannot stand silently by while being treated unfairly, so here I am.  I'm scratching my head here about something Jon said on J & H Plumbing's web site: I always consider the customers, and I don't take advantage of them.  I feel very un-considered and taken advantage of.  No more J & H Plumbing for me.

One of your drivers nearly side swiped my car on the freeway about 30 minutes ago...he was in front of me on the I-10 and insanely swerved to get on the 202 exit. Which the turns into Pecos Rd.
he was swerving all over the roads and switching lanes without using his signal. Highly irresponsible driving. He is a danger on the road. He's either high, drunk or on his cell phone. I had the passenger in my car snap a picture of the vehicle...but since the tinting is so dark on the window we were unable to see what he was doing inside to cause driving like that.

My husband and I had J & H Plumbing come out to our house to install a new water heater. When I called to schedule the appointment I talked to Jamie, she went the extra mile to explain in detail our options and the process for our situation with our water heater. The two young men, Adrian and Anthony, that came out to do the job were great! We greatly appreciate the call to inform us they were on the way to our house. They answered all my husbands questions as well. We recommend using J & H Plumbing for plumbing services.

BEWARE. PLEASE READ. Horrible experiences with these guys. Dishonest, disrespectful, and overpriced. That WORST part is we are family friends and long time customers. The last three services have been AWFUL. 1. We had our water tested because we were worried about a smell. They never got back to us. I called repeatedly and was promised a call back. It took a whole month. What if the water was unhealthy?! 2. Had a garbage disposal replaced. It constantly backs up and came loose already. It was installed wrong. 3. I had Jesse over to check some pipes before I had tile put in. Long story short, he promise to take good care of us and give us a good price for some bathroom upgrades while we were doing our retile. Long story short, it took THREE AND A HALF MONTHS. Jesse never had appointments with contractors scheduled until I asked. And he would be rude about it every time. Every aspect of the project had to be redone TWICE. THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. well the project finally finished and the price?? INSANE. $10,000. Let's not forget this guy promised us a good price for our loyalty and I constantly told him I needed this to be an inexpensive project. Absolutely crooked salesmen.

A ZERO RATING is way to high for this company.  BUYER BEWARE...
The owner and his crew are ignorant and rude.  If you let these people in your house, beware. This group is the most unprofessional plumbing company out there.

If the owner is worhtless, what does it say for the rest of the group. And if the red headed kid shows up at your house ( if you are foolish enough to call them), hide the women and children. This guy is a hot head that should not even be dealing with people.  The lady who works in the office is also rude.  Way too many great plumbers in the valley to even think of dealing with these morons.

J & H did a great job in re-plumbing our house.  They started on time and they completed the project within a few days as promised. The crew that was assigned to our place was professional and meticulous with their work.  Jon the owner was great with answering questions and making sure everything was completed as promised.  I would highly recommend J & H plumbing.

I am very pleased with the repair that Clayton did for me today.  He was on time, precise and explained everything that he was doing.   I was worried on the end result as far as the price but it fair priced.  I will be using J and H Plumbing again when I need a plumber and will recommend them to my friends and family.

Thank you J&H!

I have delt with several plumbing companies and hands down J and H is the best. Jesse came out to the house to look at my problem and although it was not completely a plumbing problem he took the job and scheduled a date to fix my issue. He was very knowledgable and explained in detail all the work he was doing. They are an honest company and I was very pleased with the price and quality of work. Thank you guys so much for all your help. You are my go to people for any plumbing problems. Thanks again!!!

We had a vanity, sink, and faucet installed by J&H in Feb. 2018. The installation was good enough although we did have to call them back to repair a leak.
I had called to ask for a price and was told $115.00/hour plus parts needed. When we received the bill, we were charged $65.00/hour for a helper. Not a plumber or an apprentice, but a helper who was learning on the job. I was not told that on the phone and did not expect the extra $130.00 nor did I expect to be charged for two hours when the time was from 9:39-11:10 (1 1/2 hours) or so. we were also informed that we would be charged an extra 5% if we used a credit card rather than a check. The latter is a minor detail but certainly it would be wise and honest to tell a prospective customer that they would be charged for a 'helper and be charged for a minimum of two hours. The plumber, when questioned about the helper said that he needed someone to help him remove the vanity and sink even though this was part of the job. We had brought in the new sink and vanity and if it had been mentioned, we could have removed the old one ourselves.  We were thinking that the job would cost around $300.00 but the total amount was $450.00.
We won't use them again.

A $110 an hour to fix a leak that took 20min because, I live in Ahwatukee.
Shame on me for assuming fairness.   I chose the plumber because he said, I live around the corner.  Not to mention the inappropriate comment he made.

Some jerk from J & H plumbing came close to rear ending me last Sunday. It was a j & h van on greenfield and 202 I was at a complete stop at a red light then the van comes slamming to a halt swerved and ended up in the other lane. I just got off church and I had my kids In The truck. I rolled my window down and yelled at him. If this is how they drive like maniacs then I wouldn't trust them In my house.

These folks are by far the most reliable plumbers I have ever dealt with. They did a sewer hook-up replacement for us in a day and a half, did a good job of cleaning up and then came back on less than two hours notice when some follow up work was required. The bill was about 60% of the next lowest bidder.

Highly recommended.

It's never an exciting experience when you need a plumber, but the employee at J and H Plumbing actually made this a pleasant visit.  We had a leak by our washer and needed a plumber right away. Within hours they arrived. Matt was so calm and professional and so courteous. He wore booties and was clean and put together. His personality was so nice! He worked quickly and cleaned up and really did a nice job. I noticed how meticulous he was and very thorough to make sure things weren't left half way or messy. I also noticed he cleaned up with Mrs. Meyers Spray and not a toxic chemical cleaner. I was so impressed. I mean, what a great experience! I would definitely recommend. 5 stars all way!

DO NOT do business with these people.

I called them out to look at my water softener due to a leak. The tech pulled the valve body off the unit and wrapped the threads in teflon tape. Screwed it back on, it still leaked. When he tried to take it off the whole valve body broke off the threads. I chalked it up to age and said lets get it repaired. He took my whole unit to their repair people and advised me the job would cost $400 total. A new valve body, and resin. I agreed.

The tech left no receipt, or no contact info of any kind. Fast forward 3 weeks with no calls or updates I dug through my inbound calls and found his number. When I called he advised me the softer was repaired and could be delivered, I expected a call that day to confirm pricing and delivery date. The next day at 7:30am I get a call advising me that the unit could not be repaired because they could not get the broken threads out of the tank.I was advised i should buy a new softer for 900 - 1200 dollars. I requested to speak with a manager. No sense of urgency to my issue, i called them back 4 times before I was able to speak with someone.

When i finally got a hold of a manager I told her on the phone i want it back, and I don't feel they earned their $100 labor charge for ignoring me for 3 weeks, and what I feel was the result of their tech putting the valve body on to tightly causing the threads to be so jammed a repair company could not get them out, and my whole unit is junk. I was happy to pay to have it repaired, but when I'm told its not repairable is where i draw the line. They caused it to not be repairable, end of story.

After an awful phone call with their management where i was advised I would be paying their trip charge or i would not get the equipment back I told them to keep it, because its junk anyhow and i will go to my grave before i pay a company for this kind of service.

So basically at the end of the day all J & H pluming did for me was come to my house and steal my water softener.

DO NOT give them your business.

Long, TL;DR at end.
So this job was about 5 months ago. I'm a pretty capable handyman, enough so that it's rare for me hire out for personal residential work. That being said, I know when something is beyond my experience/ability and needs a professional.  Needed a 40 year old gate valve replaced, it was the house main valve and way too close to the wall for my amateur soldering skills.  J&H came in with a very fair price to replace with a ball valve, especially when compared to a couple of price-gouging big name companies that you see on TV and hear squawking on the radio. Tech comes out, does the work as quoted based on MY description, even though he had to go to the supply store for a fitting (no extra labor charge). Pay the man, we part ways. Nice guy, made sure to tip a little. After curing 24 hours, cue a pinhole leak in a fitting for the irrigation branch line. It can happen to anyone, if I'd have done it half of them woulda leaked and with triple the time involved.  No big. Call 'em, they schedule for NEXT day to fix. Tech comes out, takes a long look at it, and I guess calls the Boss. Boss isn't a manager or a supervisor, he's the OWNER! Owner calls me (I'm not home, didn't need to be, valve is outside) and explains that the house has actually been plumbed wrong since originally built in 1978! He talks me through it. Makes sense. Okay, cue the price gouge, right? WRONG! He wants to fix it up to CURRENT code and ASKS me to pay just for the Backflow preventer (apparently at his price, part was 15% more anywhere I looked online) and he covers the labor and all other materials to replumb the whole setup. He was ready to eat the entire project cost to get it right! What?! I know what a skilled tradesman costs a company to employ, they definitely didn't make any money here. Job kinda blew up in their face but they didn't hesitate to absolutely go nuclear on making it right. I'm not wasting time calling anyone else for the next job, they've earned my trust.

TL;DR - This company is timely, communicative, has fair prices, and an almost fanatical commitment to doing the job right.

Horrible company, dishonest pricing - DO NOT HIRE. For details, read on:

I was quoted 89$ per hour to fix a broken hose bib behind my house.

I was at work, but my wife was home. Two plumbers arrived to my home to make the repair. I received a phone call 37 minutes after they arrived (I compared my call log to the arrival time on their invoice) from the plumber suggesting I replace a second shut-off valve in front of my house. He said his total time would be no more than 90 minutes.

After the job was completed, the invoice listed 247.50 for labor. The office claimed that their rate to travel to my part of town was actually 105. Since their invoice lists that they were at my house for 1.25 hours, I'm not sure how you get from 105 per hour to 247.50 - but I digress.

When I called to complain, they offered to reduce the hourly rate to the 89/hour - bringing the labor total to 178 ( 2 hours @ 89 / hr ). I objected again - the plumber came to my house, completed one task (the first hose bib) and then upsold me on the second - the total time involved was 1 hour, fifteen minutes. Why am I paying for two hours of work? Their answer was because there were TWO plumbers - the plumbers swore that they did both jobs at the same time. Even though my wife clearly recalls them working in sequence and my call log agrees with her.

I leave this for you to judge - My call log shows they called to ask for permission on the second task 37 minutes after arrival, in my mind, clearly proving they did the tasks in sequence, not at the same time. But even if they had both worked at the same time - does it seem reasonable to take take a *full hour of a plumber's time* to replace a single valve? They scheduled two guys to a job that clearly only required one, and are trying to pass on their costs to me. No thanks.

In addition to their shifty pricing, they threatened to *place a lien on my house* when I offered to mail them a check - they demanded I either fax them a form with all of my credit card info (uh, not after this treatment) or I drive a check to them that day. At this point, I figured I was better off driving the check then wasting my time with crooks. Keep in mind, this was all within the space of 24 hours, so it wasn't like I was dragging my feet. Robbery and threats! Awesome.

I hired J & H Plumbing  to re-plumb  my entire house when I bought it. I also had them install a new gas hot water heater. They did a nice job. Because of that, I hired them to  install my new dishwasher,. From the beginning, I had difficulty with my  hot water heater. The water was just too hot even on vacation mode. They came back and replaced parts, but it was still not right. It became apparent that there was something wrong with the hot water heater and they replaced it with the same model. Still the  water was either blisteringly hot, not hot enough or no hot water, I kept calling them asking if there were others such as I who had trouble with this heater and they assured me not. I also called the  manufacturer  to ask if there were recalls on it. American said no.

Fast forward with many calls to  J &H and the manufacturer  and the warranty was no longer effective. Because hot water was  so iffy, I called again. The best I could get was to change out the parts under warranty, but I would have to pay labor. I didn't want to throw good money toward this bad product again  and stated that. I finally asked them if they would work with me to replace it with a different brand. The woman who answered said that Jesse would call me back.  No call. I called again to express my concern and I was told that John would call me back. I understood that my hot water heater was no longer under warranty, but I hoped that perhaps they could help me find a resolution maybe a discount on a new one. John never called back. I did a search on Google about the water heater and what I discovered was that there is a class action suit in California because the product is so bad with known problems the same as mine. I suspect that  J & H knew this and when I called them I informed them of my knowledge. I told them how frustrated I was that no one had bothered to call me back and was assured that John for the second time would call me back. He didn't . Perhaps they wouldn't help me get a new water heater for  a reduced rate but they could've at least given me the courtesy of calling me  back and telling me so after all the money I spent  with their company.

Their customer service is sadly lacking.

I had my garbage disposal, shower, and sink fix.  The guys did a good job....  However, the customer service was horrible because:
 1. The lady on the phone had no clue how much their garbage disposal was and couldn't give me a quote.  (She said the hourly rate was $115)
 2. After the job was done, it took about 30 minutes for the guys to write up a receipt.
 3. The receipt does not break down cost of labor v.s. materials.
Since my friend recommended J & H and they seem to do a good job, I did not complain.  But, I will definitely use a different plummer next time because I want to be able to understand what I am paying for.

I called to get my sink replaced in my kitchen and have a new disposal installed and they quoted $95 an hour. I had an appointment for Friday afternoon and took a half day at work to accommodate the appointment.  The tech came out and took one look and said I wasn't told I was replacing a sink and I can't lift your sink by myself.  He called his supervisor outside and came back in and said he would return and 12:00 pm the next day.  at 3:45 pm I called the after hours line and they paged him.  at 4:30 I did the same.  at 5:05 pm I got a voicemail from the tech that he fell asleep from doing an overnight job and he would try to get out to me.  He sounded very tired and I honestly did not want someone doing shabby work if they were sleep deprived and had a bad taste in my mouth as I had re arranged my schedule for this for two days now.  I am so disappointed because the reviews looked good on Angies list and I thought I would have a good experience.

Awful. I had a bad water leak in my front yard. Called them up and made an appointment. The old man came to my place with an attitude. Asked me if I had turned off the water or called the city. I said no and he gives me this dirty look. Goes back to his car for a few minutes. Then after a couple of minutes, he takes off without discussing anything. Very bad experience.

Do not use this company. They are liars and thieves. They are rude and unprofessional. I had called to have a water softener installed in my home and was quoted $350. I got a phone call from the plumber and he told me that because it was the weekend the price was going to be more. I asked him how much, and he said $400 to $550. I asked if that was the worst it would be and he said yes, but maybe it would not be as hard and it would be closer to the first quote. I had him come out and do the work. He had one of my guys helping me cut the drywall and left for over an hour to get materials. My guy doesn't know how to cut drywall and wasn't his responsibility in the first place. That ended up costing me more money. He tried to snake work from the company telling my guy to have me just call him in the evening after he was off work at J and H and he would give me a better price. Then he had my guy help him for the 6 hours that he was there. The install had no dig, was a simple install and still took that long. After he was finished he handed me a bill for $1,400. I asked him how this was possible and he told me that I had him start so it did not matter what the price was at the end. I called his boss and talked to someone who told me that they would come out and look and assess the issue. Never happened. I got a letter saying they were going to put a lean on the property. I called and they refused to let me speak to anyone in charge. The lady on the phone hung up on me. I received a call later in the day saying that they had emailed me and tried to call me numerous times. I told her I have the records in front of me from all my calls and emails as well. She got angry started yelling at me and called me a liar. I asked her to tell me what email she had and she refused and hung up on me again. Threating to put a lean on the property again.

Overcharged.  The guy left my house 1:50 mins into a service call. Talked and smoked with his co worker outside. Took 5 mins to load his truck and 5 mins to write up the bill.  Charged me for 2:30.  You do the math.  They didn't have the equipment they needed on this truck but on another truck so I was told they couldn't guarantee their work.  Ummm. $286 later to partially unclog my drain. I brought up my concerns and he denied them.  I'll take my business elsewhere.
