HISTORY

Established in 1986.
KLEBS Mechanical was founded nearly 35 years ago (1986) in Gary Klebs’ personal residence. The economy was in a slump and construction companies were downsizing or closing doors. Gary was a key employee at another mechanical company. The company was struggling and Gary was released of his own volition. He decided to start his own company during this time and flourished while other companies were closing their doors. In a turbulent environment, Gary’s leadership and expertise sustained and grew the company from a one-man sheet metal shop to a premier full service mechanical company with over 80 employees.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

Gary Klebs was born in Wisconsin, but has called Alaska his home for over four decades. Gary started working in the construction industry in 1981, working his way up from an entry level position to General Manager. Gary started KLEBS as a one man truck and metal fabrication business in 1986. He has been at the helm of KLEBS leading them forward in growth for the past 26 years to the multi-faceted company that they are today. Gary's roots in the industry and education run deep. He is one of the founders of the Associated Builders & Contractors of Alaska. He is also the past President of the Board of Directors for the ABC of Alaska of which Klebs is a current member. Gary has a vision for KLEBS to continue to grow and flourish as a family business that reflects the original values of candor, teamwork, ingenuity and integrity that he originally brought to his one-man operation.

Only downside was the length of time to get an appointment, however, mine was not an emergency so no issues. He came out and fixed my minor problem and explained a better way to utilize my vents. Very professional, polite and on time.

This place is the biggest ripoff ever the lady on the phone said it would be $90 for someone to come out which seems like an amazing deal then Felix the repairman comes 2.5 hours late and cleans a sensor with sandpaper and boom heaters fixed I thought wow great work and no extra parts little did I know cleaning a sensor with sand paper is an additional $139 coming to a total of $229 don't use them unless you want a big surprise.

Top notch mechanical work. Quick emergency response on a late Sunday night. they do not cut corners and have an excellent warranty on their work. They annual maintenance contract is worth it. Very professional service.

I was very pleased with there service! They were out to the house quickly, identified the problem, explained it to me and fixed in under an hour. He than went on to change my filters for me. I will definitely do business again with them....if I have to!:)

I had a warranty for my furnace ( parts and labor), but had to pay up front and wait for my refund. Now, the warranty is actually through a different company. Who I spoke with numerous times. They were very concerned that I had to pay, because that's not how a warranty works. So I spoke with Rob Nelson, the gm, who said this is how it's always been because they are not a bank . He told me to get ahold of him December 3 ( work was done October 3) . Called December 3rd , still hasn't gotten my refund. The people at Johnstone Supply went above and beyond to fix this to get my refund, Klebs did NOTHING. In fact, they pointed the finger at Johnstone. Finally, in January , Johnstone got a reply from the parts/warrant company . Check was on its way. When I found this out, I called Klebs. Was told Rob was not in the office, when I asked to speak to someone els that could help me, the receptionist very rudely told me No one is in and I was told to tell you your check is in the mail Now, I get the warranty and that certain paperwork needs to be done, but when I originally bought my furnace, and my warranty this should have been explained. The fact that nobody at the company wanted to speak to me, or apologize for the wait or that they did nothing to help speed the process up is just unbelievable. I will defiantly find another plumber/heating person in the future. I wouldn't have even given them 1 star

Not sure that most of the people working here know what they are doing. 4 years ago they installed our hot water heater. They really messed up our fence in the process. 6 months later, they had to come back and completely redo the job, as it was winter and we could not get our living room above 50 degrees. Then, we had them install our hot water heater. We always thought the water seemed extra hot because it was new. NOPE. Installed wrong again. This install was a year and a half ago. We asked them to come out and fix the problem, and they said we were out of warranty. We informed them the install was wrong (the thermostat never did anything), and they quoted us prices to fix it. We said, See you in court.

In my opinion go to a box store like Home Depot or Lowes, to ring my door bell I was charged a $25.00 fuel fee and $74.00 service fee to look at my aging hot water heater. Good luck, you can get one for much less at the box stores!

Called for a furnace inspection and cleaning for the sale of my home. $437 and almost 3 hours later, I would never recommend this company to anyone. He didn't do any repairs at all. He claimed that there appeared to be years of build-up from lack of maintenance. Hmmmm......we called 6 months ago and had one of their guys come out to replace the igniter wire. He cleaned it at that time because we were being charged for an hour and he thought we should get our money's worth. I guess it depends on who they send, but I don't recommend taking the chance.

Klebs really stepped up to the plate. They worked with us at every turn and were open to constructive comments and ideas. Like in all construction hiccups happen and Klebs flowed like water through any turbulence with grace and left us with our dignity by keeping us informed of any changes. All the people at Klebs were kind and helpful and willing to go the extra mile if needed, even during hunting season.
I absolutely recommend Klebs for your heating needs. They can do it all professionally from troubleshooting your old equipment to a total new install.
We are very impressed with their professionalism and work ethic.
