I spent a good amount of time researching electricians for this job. I needed a main panel (circuit breaker box) upgraded in my pre-war building. I understand that the price I ended up paying was typical for the task. I managed to bring the price down a bit by doing some of the work myself and supplying some of the materials.
It turned out to be a two man job that I wouldn't have felt completely comfortable doing myself. But I understand enough of what was going on to say that I appreciate the finished product and thank Radane Williams and Rico for a tidy job. The guys were very reassuring about the safety of the old box, which was turned into a splice box, and the new box.
I have read most of the Yelp comments here. I can certainly sympathize with the folks that had a hard time scheduling their work to be done. I also had a difficult time nailing dates down. I blame ConEd for holding up my electrician from making our appointments. I don't believe, however, that this is unusual when working with tradesmen. They need to finish a job before they can move on to the next one. If an estimate was incorrect, or ConEd or another trade holds them up, the schedule slips. If I have any complaint, it is that the office could have been a bit more pro-active in notifying me with the reason why I was waiting around all day for a scheduled appointment that clearly was not going to happen. Maybe some better communication between the guys in the field, the folks in the office, and the client would have helped.
It was good working with Mo, who is doing the sales bit. Apparently he talks a good game, but is not an electrician himself. I was fooled though. It's good to have someone quoting you a price that has an idea about what the job entails. In this case, there were no 2x4s and sheetrock walls. My building is made from old-school construction materials, gypsum block walls and cloth sheathed wiring. It was reassuring to hear that everybody involved understood the requirements and could make a reasonable estimate based on those conditions.
Required insurance documents were acquired swiftly, including a copy of the master electrician's license.
It must be tough working in New York city, what with parking the truck and bringing enough tools and materials. Shocking how many tools I had to supply (you guys have my yellow phillip's head?). After seeing that, I believe picking a shop that's closer to your apartment is better than a shop that is miles away. It will be easier to make appointments and will be easier for them to run back and forth to get equipment.

Klod and his colleague were thorough and communicative, and they also discovered and addressed a potentially dangerous electrical issue in our home. I would hire them again.

Great service! We've used them a handful of times and have recommended them to others and we and they have all been very pleased each time. I am even in the process of sending their information to yet another soon to be happy customer.

Master electrician Mike Sparky Hitchingham is one of a rare breed these days. He loves what he does and takes pride in his work in the manner of 'old world' craftsmen. First, Mike tried to 'talk me through' an electrical solution on the phone that would have made his service call unnecessary. Wow! When that phone coaching proved too difficult, he promptly came up and solved an ongoing electrical problem that we've had for years. If you like to be hands on, Sparky is your man. He will put you to work (that's optional!) and teach you what he's doing so you can be an electrician's apprentice! He will curse out your previous electrician and tell you what a lousy job they did and why. He will correct the problem and predict what is likely to fail in the future so it can be prevented. Oh, and did I mention this was on a Sunday?? So, yeah, I have become a Sparky Hitchingham fan. But don't make him so busy that I can't get him the next time I need him!

Called several times, left messages telling them I needed work done. Never heard a peep. At least call people back to tell them you are too busy.

They helped me figure out the problem I was trying to solve quickly, and it saved me unnecessary costs. I appreciated their quick responsiveness and competence.

I am a co-owner of a 2 family house in Brooklyn. Our house is wacky - with lots of strange wiring from the developers who flipped the house in the cheapest way possible. They made so many strange wiring decisions that have had ramifications for years. We are still uncovering the mess after purchasing the house 14 years ago. Ezrick has been a great resource in helping us figure out how to make things right. He's been thoughtful and clear, sometimes spending hours just trying to figure out how to make the situation right, and most importantly safe. Also, he's extremely fair in his pricing. He always calls ahead, letting me know when he'll be here so I never have to wait around. We've used his services more than 5 times (from installing new fixtures, to fixing old outlets) and are always extremely satisfied. Also, Ezrick is chill. He's very easy to have in your home. And, he has always cleaned up after himself; even when I insist that he doesn't have to. Hire them!

Scott was very communicative and able to come out on short notice, no hoops to jump through. He saw the job through until it was totally fixed and remained available and responsive during a small hiccup with the project.
Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic job! Yonatan helped us install a light on a 15'2 tall ceiling. It's not an easy job for most but they got it done with ease. They provided me a reasonable quote, showed up on time and were easy to work with. 10/10 would recommend.

Very efficient, responsive, and polite. He helped us install a chandelier, fixed one of our circuit breakers, and helped us replace an LED light. Came on time, very professional, and got the jobs done in a timely manner. Our go-to electrician for any future needs.

Don was accessible and provided a clear estimate. Under new local fire codes we had to install emergency lighting to the front of back hallways in our multifamily home. Don got the job completed quickly and pleased with the results.

I want to warn folks thinking of hiring Zabivay for plumbing handy work. Here's the summary:
* hired Zabivay to install drain systems on 2 ikea sinks. The agreement was to install the drain systems so the vanity drawers would close.
* He said he had done this many times and was no problem. We were away and had another
contractor install the sink and vanity. We were not able to see the final, completed work.
* He charged me $540 for this work.
* We immediately rented out the apartment for 2 months and did not hear complaints from the
renters. After they moved out and we walked through, we saw the problems.
* I contacted Zabivay about the work and he was not willing to correct the work.
* I had to hire another handyman, who did excellent work (Dave, at Elegant Design) to fix this
work. He explained this was plumbing 101:
- buy a longer pipes so the drain system would be farther back, so the drawers would close
- this was not $540 worth of labor.
I've attached photos of Zabivay's work and Dave's corrected work, as well as my email conversation with Zabivay to show our communication and Zabivay's willingness to correct his work.
For plumbing handywork, I would not recommend Zabivay. Call Dave, he does great work and charges fairly.

He was friendly over the phone, and gave me a reasonably priced quote for my problem (I needed a hard line to my old dishwasher replaced with a traditional socket). His price was significantly lower than the other electricians I called for quotes. He showed up the next day and was courteous and professional, and quickly installed the socket. He even explained to me what he was doing when I asked.
I don't hesitate to recommend this electrician!

- installed light fixtures
- sanded and painted my bathroom vanity (looks new!) and some bookshelves; spray pained some items in the apt
- put together a futon frame
- INSTALLED MY KITCHEN SINK

Roman was every knowledgeable on the phone when I first reached out, made me confident that the issue could be fixed appropriately and quickly. He understood it was a time sensitive emergency and got Serafin out to my apartment after hours within two hours.
I am so incredibly pleased with the service provided by Serafin. In addition to the quality work he did, he was so kind and a pleasure to interact with. He fully explained the issue as well as the solution. Pricing was fair and upfront.
I will absolutely be calling Conquest Electric in the future should I need their services again. Would recommend them to anyone.
