Justen Plumbing Plumbing Service
Review of a first time plumber customer -

Pros:
1. Answered phone first call.
2. Did job same day as service call.
3. Job completed to expectations.
4. Very professional.

Cons:
1. Wasn't told of repair cost up-front.
2. Wasn't told there would be a service fee in addition to labor and parts.
3. Wasn't told that I'd have to pay right after job instead of invoice.
4. Fee for using credit card since I didn't know where my check book was located (like I said, I wasn't aware of having to pay immediately).

Overall:
I would recommend this plumber, he fixed the problem.

Krinkie's Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing Plumbing Service
I was unable to relight the pilot light on our boiler after it went out. Our neighbor's had recently had a good experience with Krinkie's so I gave them a call. Paul N. came by later that day and diagnosed a bad gas control valve. An hour later, our boiler was back in working condition and heating the house.

Paul was personable, knowledgeable, and professional.

Marvel Sewer and Drain Plumbing Service
I requested a quote through Yelp and Ben got back to me within the hour to schedule for the following afternoon. He was available sooner but my schedule was more hectic than his. Ben quickly fixed our kitchen sink clog and cleaned up before leaving. He was fast, professional and great sense of humor! I would highly recommend Ben for any plumbing needs!

Weld & Sons Plumbing Plumbing Service
I called at 7:45 am not expecting any on to answer and they picked up after a couple of rings.  I told them that I had a leak and needed an emergency repair.  Tim told me he would call me back in a few minutes after he checked the schedule.  He called me back and said that the best he could do was get there in the afternoon.  I agreed and at 11:30 in the morning (earlier than expected) they called and said they were on the way.  Marcus showed up and was great to deal with.  He had to call the city to get the water turned off and fixed the problem and was out of there in about 2 hours.  Great service and very clean and professional.  Would recommend and use them again!  Thanks much.  Aaron

Ouverson Sewer & Water Plumbing Service
I called Ouverson Sewer & Water in a panic yesterday. The woman who answered the phone listened to my story about another company pressuring me to make a fast decision about two, very expensive repairs.

At first, she told me that they are a small family owned business and that they fit their camera scope appointments in when they could,  between other paying appointments.  When I called back a half hour later, she spoke to me woman to woman and said it infuriates her to see people trying to take advantage of women and that she was going to make sure that someone would make it to my house that day (yesterday).

The Ouverson Sewer & Water Technician was at my house for maybe 15 mintues total. Within five minutes he had easily pushed his camera through a toilet paper clog that the first company had showed me an insisted was impassable.

Ouverson Sewer & Water charged me nothing, their technician (Matt) showed me that the water was draining through the pipe with ease and potentially saved me $7500 / $8500 that the other company was trying to fleece.

Ouverson Sewer & Water came highly recommended. I hope that you never need them, but if you do, you can bet they will be honest.

Metro Plumbing & Drains Plumbing Service
I wish we had called metro instead of Deans last year! Mitch came out- on time, having called ahead to let us know he was on the way, and did a great job! He was polite, knowledgeable, and tenacious. He showed me the cause of the issue and gave me prices before proceeding when the first fix wasn't the actual cause of the trouble. We are very pleased with his diligence- it was fixed finally and he had all the supplies in his truck so he didn't have to come back!

Tony's Plumbing and Heating Plumbing Service
We had Tony's Plumbing install a water softener, change over some faucets and replace a garbage disposal.   They were very friendly and professional.    I would highly recommend them.

Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup Plumbing Service
The technician was nice and did not charge us because he could not unclog our sewer main.

He however told us we would need to dig up the front yard and replace a 10 foot section of pipe the NEXT day (or we would have to wait a week), for anywhere between $4200-$6000.  The whole thing felt like high pressure sales and we told him we would wait on that decision.

Got a 2nd opinion the next day from Cardinal plumbers, they were able to drill through the roots and unclog the drain main using sharper, smaller blades.  The price was reasonable and did not include a major dig.

We might use roto in the future for maintenance root removal, but not for an expert opinion.

Update: Roto-rooter contacted me about this experience with their business and this negative review.

The manager explained that Roto-rooter does not use smaller blades because they can get stuck in the sewer main, which necessitates an excavation.  I can appreciate that is a liability for the company to take on.

However, in the midst of a sewer main emergency (or any emergency really), the most anyone can hope for is helpful information.  I am more attracted to businesses who give expert advise, EVEN if it means directing me to other, more specialized businesses.  As I was calling around to other plumbers, I was told by 3 companies that if there were roots in the main, they could for sure open the line.  And sure enough they did.

I am leaving this review up because I would like to communicate to people who are looking for information - maybe they are in an emergency situation like we were.

Get a second opinion before you dig.

Discount Plumbing and Drain Cleaning Plumbing Service
They came over and barely looked at my sink and faucet the quoted me $500 to fix it and said it'll take an hour or two. I found a YouTube tutorial on basic faucet fixes and went to Home Depot to get the parts I needed. All in all I spent $80 and 30 minutes to fix the problem. I have zero previous experience fixing plumbing so I was extremely annoyed.

Neighborhood Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning and Electrical Plumbing Service
Very dissatisfied with the timeframe I was given. I was told between 10:00 and 12:00. I even called that morning to confirm and was told someone would be out to my house between 10 and 12. Received a text at 11:50 that Rick was on his way. 40 minutes later still no Rick. I called and was told he's on his way. Rick arrived at 1:15. Dressed professionally and polite. Rick did a very good job explaining what he did and the results of our furnace. Answered all my questions with great detail and I felt he was efficient. I just wish they could give a better timeline. I missed a half of a day of work waiting.

Service Today! Plumbing Service
This is the new version of the company formerly known as AirTech.  They have bundled pricing now which seems to guarantee they will maximize their profits.  It cost me $450 to be given a quote to repair my system of another $1400.  But they tried to up sell me to replacing the whole system (12years old) for $15k.  My 'second' opinion cost $450 but this (almost) fixed my system.  Unfortunately the Service Today! Technician had incorrectly unwired the control board to my furnace fan motor which burned it out.  Otherwise, I'd be set.  I still need about another $400 for the repair.  I received a full system quote of almost $7000 less from my second opinion as well.  We are talking thousands of dollars saved by not using this company.  In my repair, I'm out about $850 for having them into my home while having another company clean up their mess.  We have a saying in engineering you can have good, fast, cheap - pick two.  Well with ServiceToday! You get fast alone.

Sabre Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Plumbing Service
Before I begin, I want to say that I have a unique situation. When my house was built (far before I bought it) they decided not to make room for a furnace inside the house. Instead, they opted to go with a furnace/air conditioner combo unit on the outside of the house.

My existing combo unit died in 2013. I hired Sabre Heating & Plumbing to install a new unit. On the installation day (Friday, December 20, 2013), I should have realized that Sabre was not the company I should have gone with. I was at work when they installed it. When I returned home, I tried to turn on the furnace but it would not turn on. I decided to look around the new unit to see if there was a power switch or button. I couldn't find one but instead found a pair of fuses just sitting on top of the unit and two wires coming out of the ground, neither attached to anything (see included images). I told them what I saw and the next day they came out and fixed it. Strangely, I did not see the fuses or wires poking out of the ground later.

To protect my investment, I signed up for their Sabre Blue Maintenance Plan. For $300/year, a technician would come out twice a year to make sure the unit was running correctly. For the first few years, everything seemed to be working just fine. I believed that when they came out for the biannual checkup that they were doing a thorough inspection of the unit. Also, since there were different technicians who came out over the years, if one technician missed something then the next one would probably catch it (or so I thought).

Things started to go wrong in the summer of 2018. At the beginning of August 2018, the air conditioner was not cooling my house so I had them come out. I looked back in my email and all I could find was a charge for $106.25. I don't delete emails so I was surprised to find no work order. On 8/16/2018, there was another charge for $108.00 to replace an ARMOD. On 10/11/2018, again my combo unit was having issues and I was charged another $125.00 for a trip fee. Next year on 8/22/2019, I again needed them to come out and repair my unit. This time at $234.00 and again with no work order so that I could not trace back what they did. One month later on 9/20/2019 they had to come out again. This time to replace the TXV at $433.89. The sheer number of issues with my unit should lead me to believe that these $300/year biannual checkups were either not being done or being done by untrained technicians.

This leads to the most recent issue. On 2/4/2020, I noticed my furnace making a loud whirring noise. On the following day, it stopped producing heat. The technician who came out replaced the inducer motor. I asked what I could do to prevent this going forward and he told me that sometimes they just seize up. He got the furnace working but I noticed that there was barely any air pressure coming out of the vents. I was happy the furnace was working so I just let it run for the night. I woke up cold at 3:00 am and saw that the temperature in my house was 56 degrees. I called Sabre again the next day and informed them that the furnace would run for 20 minutes and then shut off. They sent a different technician the following day. After working on it for a number of hours the technician told me that furnace was overheating and that a safety switch was turning it off. I asked him what could be causing it to overheat and he replied: I don't know. He told me that he would increase the high limit so that the overheating would not shut off the furnace. I didn't like this answer so, for the first time, I decided to call another HVAC company, Blue Ox. Within 20 minutes the Blue Ox technician discovered that the evaporator coil was completely blocked by dirt and dust. The reason why it was overheating was that no air was coming through the intake and the motor was trying extra hard to suck in air. In addition to this, the Blue Ox technician noticed that the exhaust vent was still taped inside the furnace where the evaporator coil was. The Sabre technicians who installed the furnace didn't know or even bother to inspect the unit after they had installed it (hence the random fuses and bare wires). Since this exhaust vent had been in there since the installation, it meant that no Sabre technicians had bothered to look at the evaporator coil, not on the numerous times they came out to fix the unit or on the many biannual checkups. In addition, these experts rarely offered solutions and were not even curious as to what the underlying issues were. This makes me believe that they are either severely under-trained, extremely lazy, or unethical. Any way you cut it, it is a good reason to go with someone besides Sabre.

Tiger Plumbing, Heating & Air Plumbing Service
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!  My tenants called Tiger because of a frozen pipe in the garage.  Dustin showed up and shut off the water to the pipes in the garage and noticed a pinhole leak in the main line by the water meter.  He replaced 2' of pipe with a new valve (not needed) and he charged $1200 for the visit.  This did not include the repair to the original frozen pipe.  He stated that he would need to come back and give a separate estimate for this repair.  The tenants informed him that I was the owner and gave my phone number.  I was not called until the repair was completed.  When I called the office I was told that $600 of the cost was for future repairs and I could be refunded this amount.  Dustin refused to send me the itemized bill and I had to request a copy from my tenant.  This bill was sent almost 3 weeks later (no receipt at time of repair).  When I did receive the itemized bill, the future repairs were only $385 of which my tenants received  a refund check.  Dustin told me that the repair he did perform was only temporary.  He did not have a brass union and charged the fee of $385 to re-repair the leak.  Overall, he charged $800 for a repair that should be $200-$400 based on local averages for this type of repair.  This man and his small company have a history of overcharging for repairs (see other reviews).  I have instructed them that they will not be welcome in my house in the future and my tenants will not be calling them either.

Flohaug Plumbing Plumbing Service
I think it is terrible they don't tell you on the phone they charge to come out and give you an estimate 95.00 dollars. Every plumber I have had in the past gave a free estimate. For that reason I won't use them. They should tell you before they come out not while they are already here!
