Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Mark with Roto-Rooter showed up when they said he would.  He was quick and effiecient and explained everything he was doing and why.  He was very friendly, cleaned up.  I will use them again if I ever need too. You get what you pay for and I would pay it again.

Please get a second opinion before committing to their work.  My tub water would not turn off and I was quoted a price of $470.00 plus parts after they looked at it for 2 seconds. Of course I said no and called another private plumber. He was in my house and had the job completed in under an hour for $125.00.  I am older and live in a nice home so I don't know if they thought I was senile or what but at first when they said 470 I should have said $4.70 because that would have been closer to the truth.  I don't care if I live to be over 100 this old lady cannnot be taken advantage of.  The 2 guys that came were nice and I am not blaming them-it must be something they are told to do from the higher ups.

Service was fast, reliable and quick.  Luckily it was an easy unclog and nothing too traumatic.  The tech cleaned up after he was finished and very friendly.  I will use them again.

This was our first experience with Roto Rooter, the tech was very polite & pleasant. He unclogged our shower drain really fast & was able to answer our questions. Felt it was a bit pricey but it was a fast process & the tech was one we would definetly have back over in the future. Would recommend!

Terrible terrible experience with this company.
They refused to quote a price over the phone. We needed a main line clean out which should run in the neighborhood of $120.
Technician shows up and quotes us $321.
Little did he realize he was talking to my plumber husband.
Do not use this company.

My Tech was Larry and he was very professional. He came right in and  took care of it, and didn't try to sell me anymore than I needed, which I appreciated. I will definitely call Roto Rooter again if I have any plumbing issues.

I will say I was nervous about having to call Roto Rooter or any plumber due to the fact that I knew the cost would be out the roof, but it wasn't too bad, and I love that their work is guaranteed for 6 months. Takes away the worry.

My parent's basement flooded and we needed to find the problem quickly.  Our technician, Dave, knew exactly what to look for and was professional and helpful.  He used a camera to diagnose exactly what was wrong and recommended next steps to fix the problem.  He was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.

Very good plumbing service.  Fixed my leaking shower faucet fast and prompt.  Chris and Curtis were excellent and meticulous in their work.  Very knowledgeable.  Thought it was gonna be a major problem but turned out to be something minor and saved me a lot of money!  The work was done in less than an hour and didn't cost a fortune for their work.  Free estimates which is always a plus and recommended reasonable solutions to watch my pocketbook.  Will call them to do more work soon that needs to be done.

They came in and completed the work great.  The price for a disposal replacement seems high.  The labor for 45 minutes was double the price of the disposal.

I had a main line plug up on a Sunday, gave Roto-Rooter a call and they had a Plumber out within a couple hours.  R. Citto came out and gave me a bid describing several pricing options.  Though Roto-Rooter wasn't the lowest cost option (after getting a couple of other bids) I decided to go with them given their professionalism, courtesy, and warranty.  I think you get what you pay for and I had greater confidence they would work harder to get the job done right.  They came back out that day and got the drain cleared, root treated, and scoped.  I have no complaints with the service I received and feel good that I know it was done right.  I would not hesitate to call them again regarding any future plumbing needs.

Dave the plumber arrived to clean my kitchen sink's drain problem within 90 minutes of my call to Roto-Rooter - 30 minutes early. He was courteous, extremely professional and very helpful. Dave snaked out the clog and checked 4 times to make sure the sink drained properly. I can't tell you how much I appreciate his fine and competent work. I strongly recommend Roto-Rooter. I'd like to add that Dave fixed our problem even though his work day was already finished.

Very knowledgeable plumber that was fast, friendly and efficient.

I was able to get a same day appointment no problem and he was in and out in less than an hour. It wasn't exactly cheap but everything was resolved when he left.

didn't have the toilet I needed because it was a weekend.  reset it and came back Monday to handle the problem.

I fully understand that when you bring equipment as dirty as a 300 lb snake machine into your home that you are introducing things that are not pleasant to your normal environment. But when you have a clogged sewer, you have no choice.  Our technician did a very good job of getting the job done after some considerable effort. However, the effort exerted to protect our home from the potential ravages of his machine needs a little polish.  The issue here was the dirty wheels and the skids used to get over stairs and entry sills.  First, coming into the house the skids took all the paint off the entry sill where ever they touched. Then he approached our stairs to the basement with our newly refinished floors and the bull nose at the top of the stairs. I asked him if his machine was going to leave marks on the wood. He said probably. I  told him that just was not going to happen. I provided several layers of paint drop cloths to cushion the skids.  The question is, why wouldn't there be a procedure for protecting my floors? Had I not been there we would have had permanent (and unnecessary) scratches on that bull nose. We repainted our entry sill after the technician left. The second issue was the dirty wheel. I mean, how can wheels get so dirty that they left tracks in both directions on floors, carpeted stairs, and off white carpet downstairs. We cleaned all of this after departure, but you would think that cleaning wheels would be a  standard procedure since those are going to predictably soil any home they enter.  Finally, the technician's heavily cleated boots had mud in the cleats. Not excessive, but some mud that left mud clots behind.  I picked them up with my hand as they occurred. I pointed this out and he put booties on briefly.  Obviously, my concern is for the care and cleanliness of our property which seemed somewhat foreign to our technician.  Is this the standard for Roto Rooter? I doubt so with the company being as popular and effective as they are.  I usually tip my technicians quite well.  Not so this time.  

That being said, I thought the result of the work and the value provided for the money charged was very fair and would use this company for my needs in the future.

I would give Roto Rooter 0 stars if I could. They charge you for services they do not even perform, overcharge you for areas they said they cleaned and when it comes time to pay the bill and ask why its so high they can't even explain the things they did or charged to the customer. To put it simply if you call these guys you WILL get overcharged, you WILL see items on your bill they claimed they did, but did not and they will try and collect the full amount and not even care. Stay away from the BIGGEST rip off plumbing company in KC. Call a small family owned business who will actually treat you right and do what they say they will do!

Although the original promise of a technician being available within a few hours of when I called didn't end up being true, when they did get here the next day, they were professional, clean and fixed the problem in about 30 minutes. Our technician Dwayne did a great job!

Great service from start to finish. Only complaint was how the yard looked afterward, but that's nothing that some seed and water won't fix.

Very impressed with the Service from Roto-Rooter. Dave the plumber, tech # 0393, that came to our home was very Knowledgable, friendly, polite, and helpful. He arrived within the time frame that the dispatcher had stated. He came out went straight to work to resolve the issue, gave good advice, fixed the problem, cleaned up without leaving any evidence of him being here, and seemed very honest. He didn't try to sale me up on anything or tried to pressure me into buying anything. Just straight to the point and explain everything so, I could understand the situation. Would definitely recommend this company to any friends or family.

Service was very fast & reliable- got me in the same day, on time. The technician was professional and friendly. Cleared out my lines with no problems and thoroughly cleaned up when finished. The cost seemed a bit pricey for the amount of labor/time involved but I didn't have time to get another quote and do a comparison. Will likely use them again in the future.

After using Roto-Rooter for several years I am not happy to realize that your warranty for service is only good when the consumer doesn't use their garbage disposal. After paying well over $200 to get my kitchen drain unclog and being told the warranty is good for 6 months I find out that what most consider normal use is actually abusive. Who doesn't put food prep, such as eggs shell, lettuce ends and peels from veggies down the disposal. If you do and your sink clogs up the company can charge you another $200 at any time saying you abused the disposal voiding the warranty. I may very well call someone else next time.
Wanted to add that after writing this review I received an email and a phone call from the company. After 20 minutes on the phone having the gentlemen try to explain to me the differences in garbage disposal and what might be going on with our drain, and apologized for the serviceman not backing up the warranty,  he tells me he will refund our full amount for the service call. Nice guy just saved me over $400. I now know to be very careful with what I put in my garbage disposal, apparently my pipes can't handle much anymore.

Did not bring the right equipment for the job and had to pay someone else to complete the work.  Our appointment was late in the day on Friday and the technician was already on his weekend when he arrived.  Good luck if you use them.

I had sewer water backing up into my basement and with one quick call I had a technician scheduled to come to my house.  The ease of calling and making to request a service technician and the friendly customer service I received made me feel comfortable that I was in good hands.  They called to let me know my technician was about 15 minutes away and Dwayne (tech # 3453) arrived shortly after.  He was very nice and explained everything he was doing and what the issue was.  While he was here I remembered another drain in the garage that had been clogged for some time.  I asked if he could take a look at it and he was glad to help.  I would definitely recommend. Great experience!

Great service. I called at 5 pm on Sunday. They came promptly and had the job completed by 5:40. This is the third time i have used them for my restaurant and the service and result has been exceptional every time. Well done!

I called them on a Saturday they said they could not make it out that day but they would put me on a service call for the next day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The next day when they had not showed up by 1:30 I called back, the guy told me I wasn't scheduled for today I was scheduled for tomorrow, which was obviously completely different than what the guy told me when he scheduled the service. They told me no problem though they could fit me in before 5:30 p.m. I'm writing this review at 5:45 p.m. because I had to cancel the call because they never showed up. I called the dispatch one more time to check in on my appointment but I was told he was busy and would call me back of course he never did.

I can't say enough great things about my experience. I called at 4:45pm on a Thursday and dispatch (Annette) said they would have someone at my place by 8pm. And hour later I got a call that my tech was on the way. Then shows up AMBER!! She  as so amazingly kind, professional and thoughtful. She diagnosed my issue immediately and educated me on the misconception of putting lemons down the drain which appears to be the root cause of my issue. Fast forward to the conclusion of the appointment and I am convinced Amber is my new best friend. It was seriously the best sewer related experience I have ever had. I hope to never call them back with my new lemonless disposable knowledge but if I do I will call and ask for Amber for sure!  10 Stars would be on this rating if it allowed for it!

Great service! Mark came out really late/ early in the morning and I really appreciate that they operate all hours. Although it was more expensive than I have paid for Roto Rooter in other cities. Hopefully I won't have to use the 6 month guarantee, but I love the piece of mind.

Firstly....even for the KC Metro Area....there are several Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Water Cleanup businesses....all with differing but predominantly negative reviews.  The same business managers (not local....but from Chicago) respond to these Yelp reviews whether left here or at one of the other Yelp listed Roto Rooter businesses.  Roto Rooter will (a) delay your scheduled appointment rendering you desperate once they finally arrive (b) not provide even general price quotes until they do arrive (c) over-charge substantially for services (d) instill unnecessary fear in the customer during the course of completing a simple drain clean/snake (e) suggest that the supervisor need come to provide quotes for additional but unnecessary repairs.  Roto Rooters in Kansas City are running a scam.  Doubt me?.....hire them and you will quickly agree.  This isn't a scam run by the service technicians.....this is a corporate scam where Roto Rooter is training their techs to scam consumers.  READ READ READ their reviews both here and elsewhere BEFORE you hire Roto Rooter.  Save yourself and hire a local drain clearing specialist or plumber.  Save yourself a LOT of time, aggravation, and money.

They were great.  Wish I had not waited so long to call them.  I'd been too afraid to call, thinking they would find all sort of unsolvable problems.  But they fixed it fast and you've gotta love the guarantee.  Thank you, Roto Rooter!  I'm not afraid to use our plumbing anymore.

Basement flooded due to tree roots, and we were in a jam. Had some urgent things to attend to. They were able to get someone over there within half an hour! He (Jason Meyer - 0131) recommended doing a camera diagnostic in addition to the snake to clear out the line. We've had them snake out the roots a number of times prior, so this would hopefully shed light on whether there's anything else to do about the problem.
Adam Foster (1090) came by not half an hour after that to do the diagnostic, running the camera and letting me see over 100 feet through the drain. We noticed several issues, and identified the primary concern: lush tree root infiltration within 30 feet of the house. He wrote up a proposal for replacing that first section of pipe in a way that would solve the problem going forward. We chose not to at this time due to personal financial situation, but now have a much better understanding of what's actually causing the problem and know what to do to fix it.

I have used Roto-Rooter in the past and after getting a couple quotes to repair the main line, I chose Roto-Rooter.  I was extremely pleased with their response time and communication.  The day of the job, Mike & Mike were onsite early, were extremely pleasant and did a great job of excavating around my professional landscaping.  They answered all my questions thoroughly and I couldn't be more satisfied.  They were great!

Had a sump pump failure during recent storm. Garrett (Tech #358) arrived promptly and replaced the pump. No hassles. No drama. Good professional job.

I had a plumbing emergency and they responded right away.  Jim came out, snaked my sewer line, explained about the roots that caused the blockage and did everything quickly and professionally.  I paid exactly what he quoted, which was in the ballpark of what I expected.

We had a backup into our basement from our main line being clogged with tree roots. This is the second time we have used Roto Rooter to clear the line. Chris Ladesic was very friendly and courteous, taking the time to remove my door from the hinges to get the machine through without banging it up. He also spent a good amount of time on my problem (close to an hour) running the rooter to its full length to make sure the line was clear. He also scheduled a follow-up to address some problems he thought we had with our main sewer line. Overall, I was pleased with the service and would recommend it to anyone.
