I contacted An Affordable Sewer Line Replacement Co. (Jim Sorensen, Owner) off an ad I found online. I found him to be very professional, showed up on time when he said he would for the original bid and worked beyond his requirements to make sure my job was done on time and on budget. Here are the details:
I am building a new home near downtown KCMO and unfortunately for me that required installing a new sewer line from my new building to the city main off an alley and also taping the main in the street and bringing water to my building. The sewer line had to run from the front of my building to the alley which is close to 125' and the water line was from the front of my building to 4 feet from the curb approx 15 feet. Both jobs are very difficult and time consuming when dealing with the city. Jim, was excellent during both processes especially when he had to go to the city to get permits, etc. He spent nearly as much time there as it would have taken to do one of the jobs, lol. However I never felt like I was waiting on him as he kept in constant contact with me during that delay with calls or text messages.
Once he got all the permits he started on the sewer line first. Jim and his crew used a backhoe to dig the trench from my building to the alley and he needed to excavate the property line to find the old connection. After much digging he found it which I was very relieved he did. If I could not have found that old connection and I had to dig in the street it could have been very expensive for me. I got bids for a sewer line street cut ranging between $15,000 - $25,000. Yikes! He saved my day and my wallet! He connected the sewer line after it was inspected by the city and filled in the dirt along my property. I came home the next day and was surprised to see it was all done. That was easy, go Jim!
Next project was to install the city water line to my building. I knew this one would be more time consuming as he not only had to dig and bring the water line into my new building he also had to do a street cut which I really didn't want to do (neither did Jim). Jim worked with me to see if we could find the old waterline but it was galvanized pipe and the city required it to be 3/4 copper. So I lost that bet and hired Jim to cut my street. So much fun... he precut the sidewalk and the street and started to excavate near my building. He found the city main approx 4 feet from the curb, installed a curb stop, new water meter, approx 15 feet of copper pipe and an RPZ back flow preventer inside my building. It took him a few days to get that installed and inspected by the city and once that was done filled in the excavation with dirt, gravel and used concrete on the sidewalk and concrete / asphalt on the city street. I could not have been more impressed with his work ethic. He was very professional, worked crazy hard and was highly skilled to make sure it all went as smooth as it could. His crew was also very friendly and listened to his instructions and my special requests on keeping the mess to a minimum. I never thought this job was going to be so big and the amount of work needed to complete it, but Jim never complained to me no matter what issues arrived with the city or what we found when digging on an old lot. Nothing surprised him and he kept on working, evening staying late one night to get the sewer line completed so he could have an inspection first thing in the AM. Both projects I hired him to do passed the city inspections with no issues.
If you are looking for an Affordable sewer line company to install, repair a sewer line or water line you should contact An Affordable Sewer Line Replacement Co. as I found them to be the very best in town and I contacted several to get bids. His price was right in the middle (and very fair) for what was involved.
IF I ever need a sewer line repaired, replaced I will be calling Jim again with out any hesitations. Thanks Jim you were one of the best contractors I have had the pleasure of working with on my new home construction project. A++
