Best Businesses in Texas
Too many things have gone wrong with Tom Mcnutt. His work ethic and professionalism are less than desirable. I wouldn't recommend the to anyone. I hear he has had a lot negative change in his personal life that effecting his work.

Yelp's localization does a disservice to contractors since the best of the best probably don't live in your immediate neighborhood.
John Henshaw and his crew qualify as the best of the best. Plus, he's a master electrician. (see tiny.cc/jhenshaw)
Now, let's be honest, We all want the most for our pennies and we may think that hiring a handyman to install simple things like fans make economic sense. Think again. Hiring a licensed electrician is not that much more (Last i checked Henshaw Electric charged $150 per fan; the half-wit handyman I hired through craigslist charged $100 per fan. SInce I had to get Henshaw to re-hang said fan it actually cost me $250), He also grounded all the plugs in & around my computer and installed a surge suppressor in the electric box to safeguard all my stuff.
And yes, a licensed guy will charge a few bucks more but they are worth every penny. I can sleep at night knowing my fan or stove or whatever isn't going to burst into flames.

Ramon Umana and his crew are professionals. I am completely satisfied with this recent work: replace regular duplex receptacles with tamper resistant receptacles at dining, living and upstairs bedrooms; relocate fan switch in bathroom, add switch in attic, add receptacle in attic, replace switches in upstairs compute closet, bathroom and outside laundry; add gfci receptacle at kitchen; install disconnect for water heater; install gfci at outside back door and inside and outside laundry room. Whew!

Double Diamond was a pleasure to deal with. Billie Vaughn does top notch work and I will use him anytime I get the opportunity. Highly recommended.

Earlier this week I called RS Electric to request an appointment for an estimate of work at my home. The appointment time was 9am on Friday - with Ray. So here I sit, at 10am on Friday - no electrician, no phone call. What am I supposed to think? I took 1/2 day off of work (lost wages) for this appointment. If they can't even make it to the first appointment I certainly wouldn't want to work with them on a real job. I'm hoping there's a logical explanation, but until I hear from RS Electric...I think I've just been stood up. Hopefully Yelp won't bury this review like the tend to do - seems the Yelp sort buries bad reviews. Save yourself disappointment and find another electrician - that's what I'm trying to do right now.

Very quick turnaround with great quality. Ben was very professional and helpful.

JL Electric was great to work with. I called them on a Monday morning and Scott was able to accommodate my schedule and come out same day; even coming out late in the evening. Professional and would recommend to anyone.

Philip arrived on time and performed a great job installing 2 fan switches. He also fixed some faulty wiring which save me a hassle later on.. He was very nice and professional.. He check my fuse box to ensure I was up to code .. I plan on using him again for outdoor light fixtures.. He has a groupon special so look him up..

I have used Rubio Electric many times and consistently gotten great customer service. It's run very professionally. I always get a quick callback from the owner, Justin, and he always gets over to help quickly. He is polite, follows up to make sure everything is ok, cleans up, sends a clear, professional invoice, and has never failed to do anything but excellent work. I recently needed some work and not only did he promise a start time, I got a confirmation phone call and text confirming it. This time two of his employees came. They confirmed their arrival, were polite, clean, extra helpful, gave me additional clear instructions for what I needed to do, and were very nice and friendly - and professional - to deal with. If only more contractors could do the same. Justin and his team installed Ring devices (some walls had to be opened up), and did other interior work. I will always use and recommend them in the future.

Shane was great and really worked within my budget. I had his guys add some outdoor electrical outlets, fans, and more. They Ensured it was water tight, used good materials and followed code. I appreciate the hard work his guys did, they were here until 8:30PM to ensure they completed the job, and did it right! I'll be using Murphy's electric again.

I called this business and the gentleman (not sure if he's the owner or staff member) immediately answered. Unfortunately, he sounded as if he were obviously busy which is fine but it felt as if I was bothering him. We decided that he would come out at his convenience which would be the following week. I thought about the call, our conversation and how I felt. I began searching for another electrician or handyman. The call was made and the interaction was the complete opposite of my previous experience. I scheduled an appointment for the next day and immediately called the gentleman respectfully to cancel my appointment. I didn't get an answer so I proceeded to send a text message but I never received a callback or follow up. He should've at least returned my call or text to inquire about why I was canceling and then offer an apology. That never happened.

3Guys Insulation did a fine job at my house - no complaints with their work, BUT the crew and customer service was awful. I expect my property to be respected. After my job or during, I am not sure, the crew discharged their equipment onto a pile of antique bricks - 100 years old that we had rescued from our home project. When I brought it to the attention of the owners - he immediately blamed my superintendent. I expected 3 Guys to take responsibility for their actions and apologize. I am devastated that they damaged my bricks, but the response was equally unprofessional. I do not recommend.

Overpriced.
I had a simple job - I wanted to replace an old outlet with a new, AFCI outlet. When I called and asked how much, customer service said well, it depends on what the electrician finds. That should have been a flashing red light; nevertheless, I went ahead and scheduled a service call.
The technician arrived 2 hours after the scheduled appointment. He didn't want to install an AFCI (he said they are too touchy) so he recommended a standard outlet. Real simple job.
Before he started the job, he tried to sell me a new breaker box. He said it would cost $2,500. I told him to work up a written quote and I'd compare it to three other bids. After that, he dropped that suggestion.
He proceeded to do the work. After he finished, I watched as he worked up the bill. Basically, he had a book that listed services and charges. After I got the statement, I knew why customer service did not want to give me a quote -- according to HomeAdvisor.com, their charge was on the high end of the range of charges for such a job in the Houston area. There was nothing special about the service that justified a premium price.
Moral of the story -- if someone is dodgy about the cost of a simple, standard procedure, find someone else.

Set yourself on fire before ever doing business with this John Henshaw clown.

I called Mr. Sparky to address some concerns with my breaker box. The phone staff was very helpful and courteous. They worked with me to schedule a time that was best for me. The electrician who arrived, Mike, was very polite and knowledgeable. Mike arrived on time and completed the job quickly. Once the job was complete, Mike sent me a digital receipt to my email. I wish more service company's would do this as I do not like paper laying around. If I ever have the need for an electrician again, I will defiantly call Mr. Sparky and see they can send Mike back out.

Tried to reach the company for 1 week, left numerous messages when their phones were working . Never received a call back.
If they can't even answer their phones, I doubt they can complete a job properly and if you had trouble you would never be able to reach them.
DO NOT USE.

I wish there was an option to give no stars because totally disgusted is more my sentiments.
We know a commercial electrician and went with Heights Electric because we trusted our commercial electrician's recommendation. We should have headed the poor review here when we read it but we thought we'd give Charlie and his team the benefit of the doubt especially because they are a local business. Here's my advice to others: DO NOT HIRE HEIGHTS ELECTRIC.
His workmen were definitely polite and capable. They did a great job at not tearing up our home. However, the billing was underhanded and shifty.
1. They arrived later than discussed. No phone call, just arrived late.
2. 2 workers, 1 who does all of the work and the other that runs to the truck and back.
3. Charlie charged for his own showing up and standing around.
4. We were charged an hour for the Free quote when it was their doing that they came in and took the old fixture down to see what they might be dealing with.
5. We were quoted a price range and ended up having to negotiate above the highest end of the range. Charlie claims it was because the job turned out to be harder than expected and they were working late hours and we were actually getting a discount. (may I remind you, they showed up late and the timing was understood when we were quoted)
6. If the job was harder/was going to cost more, that should have been stated when they realized this. Several times we asked if everything was alright and the response was yes.
7. Our bill didn't even have my name right. Not even just a misspelling- totally different names. Really.
8. We heard a loud crack and there's a very good possibility that our nice fixture was broken at that time but we were not in the same room so there's no telling.
9. Seeing as the fixture was damaged, the job is still not done. They offered to come back and install for an additional $100. No thank you.
Our father is a contractor and a former EE- it's too bad he doesn't live even remotely close. When you give a quote, you work in the possibility of a job being harder than it should be or you let the customer know at that time, not at the end when you charge.
We've had great luck with other area businesses but will not be using Heights Electric again. Completely unprofessional, underhanded, and nothing the Heights should be proud of.
