Kelsie is THE GO-TO GUY for Steam Heat!! We have a house that was built in 1929 with Steam Heat. When we bought the house, it had a home warranty program with Comfort Systems (CS) who purported to know how to service steam systems. When we had knocking in our pipes, CS said that is how steam heat is. I contacted several other companies and I knew more about steam heat systems than they appeared to. Finally, I was referred to Kelsie who identified several discrepancies in the system that CS should have caught when we paid them $900 to inspect and service the system. Things that had obvious corrosion and had been there for a while. Kelsie fixed all the problems and IS my GO-TO guy for steam heat.

Dan's installed our new Trane unit in 2015 and we were so happy with their sales and installation service then. They did take the time to explain the maintainance the unit needed but my husband prides himself on being able to maintain things himself. Last year the humidifier wasn't working so my husband decided he could fix it. Well, it never worked right and I insisted that he call in the professionals this year. (He has never had the unit serviced since we bought it!) Well, they came once he remembered to call and told us which part needed replacing (since the filter on the humidifier that needs replacing each year had not been replaced) was not functioning. We ordered the part and today, when they came to install it, they found that last year my husband had actually plugged something up and that the part did not need replacing. (They couldn't actually tell this until they took the part off) Now as a former New Yorker, I was shocked that our repairman was so honest, did not just replace the part and charge me $285! Our repairman was honest and explained what the problem was, fixed what my husband did, and didn't charge us for today's visit! Now they could have put the new part in , charged us and no one would be the wiser. The problem was definitely something they would not have found until they took the whole thing apart, either - my husband doesn't fix things in small ways. I applaud their honesty! Dan's is now my only call for heating and air conditioning repair issues! They have always been open and honest about what we needed here when we bought the unit and now, open and honest about the work to be done. There are honest people in the world! Thank you Dan's!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Here's why:
My wife and I recently purchased and are renovating an 1875 farm house. The house was retrofitted with an HVAC system utilizing flexible duct work and we contacted American Services to assess our system and replace everything with standard metal duct. Doug Drinnen quoted the work after reviewing our home in person, and though his estimate was substantially higher than expected, Doug assured us his expert opinion and craftsmanship would create a much more efficient flow of air and optimize the heating and cooling effort. His technicians arrived with no information regarding the job, asked me how I expected them to do it and had to leave to purchase materials. However, they ultimately completed the task in two days and I was initially happy with the work.
A few months later, as the Kansas heat sank in, we quickly realized the home would not cool. I called out a local HVAC service company and he found a faulty fan on the outdoor unit. Upon entering the house he immediately pointed to the duct work and said it is not run properly to move the required amount of air. When I told him we recently had all the duct work done professionally, he laughed and asked if I paid the bill already. He provided a quote to rework their mistakes. I decided to test his theory and called in two additional companies and, without providing any history of previous work, asked if the system is installed correctly. Every technician stated the same thing, the duct work is too small to provide sufficient air movement, there is not enough return air, the duct work needs to be insulated and several runs needed to be separated. I ultimately hired one of these professionals to perform the repairs, as we were working on a very tight schedule with several other contractors.
I contacted Doug and informed him of what I had learned and he immediately denied there was ever a problem with their service. He went so far as to accuse all three contractors of lying to me. I then asked for him to reimburse me an amount he felt was reasonable given the circumstances. He refused. He then told me he did exactly as I requested and simply swapped duct for duct. He ultimately decided I was not entitled to a refund because I did not give him the opportunity to fix what he clearly and adamantly said was not broken.
I advise anyone to find another contractor and avoid this outfit altogether. I would also advise any previous customers to have their work reviewed, as we almost covered up their shotty workmanship with drywall and would have spent years chasing poor air comfort and premature equipment breakdown. Doug Drinnen has more pride than integrity and does not stand behind his work, nor can the work stand on its own merit. His website statement of 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed is merely a slogan. Run as fast as you can from this used car salesman.

My faucet had started leaking so bad that you can't turn off the faucet. They came to fix the faucet, but were unable to properly install the faucet correctly. It still is leaking bad.

I must say that the guy, Cooper, who came to our house was very personable and introduced himself. The hard part was that we worked with Service Line Warranty (we'd not had a problem before) and they scheduled us for Monday between 8am & noon. The time was okayed over the phone, by computer and my husband got two notices over his cellphone as to the time. At 12:15 my husband called your office and told them who he was and if they were coming as scheduled. The woman on the other end said that we were scheduled but not until 3:15 on Monday, when told about the scheduling my husband was told that she didn't do the scheduling. It seems to me that if a company is going to work with Service Line Warranty the company would work together with them to serve the customer and not make them wait. My husband is a disabled veteran and when we called originally Thursday we had to wait THREE days, unable to 'poop' in our own toilet until our toilet could be snaked out. Then we had to wait extra because PD Plumbing didn't work with Service Line Warranty. Usually I do some housework Monday and I couldn't do most of it because I needed water. We will use Service Line Warranty again but not PD Plumbing.

I called for a service call, kitchen sink, and Dakota answered, seemed real nice, gave me a quote, and scheduled for the following Monday afternoon at 3pm. At 330 I hadn't heard from him so sent a text. He called an hour later apologizing about a job he got caught up in. I understood and agreed for Tuesday at 3, same scenario, except he said he would give me a discount and was VERY apologetic, and that he had an open schedule on Thursday. We agreed on 1pm. This time no show and no call, at all.
So I've been without use of my kitchen sink for over a week now and buying take out food way too much! Thanks for wasting my time too Dakota.

I called their 24 hour line around midnight, and was transferred by the dispatcher to a tech. The tech said he was too tired to complete any more work that evening. It was late, so when he said they would call me back around 7:30 am in the morning to send someone out when they open up at 8 am, that was fine. Plus, I would be avoiding the overtime charges. The call comes in, they said they need to setup my account before they can send someone out, seems reasonable, but they had all my information that was given to dispatch the night before. At this point I'm still thinking that someone is on their way. I get a another call 12:49 pm, they are calling me to put me on the schedule for this afternoon if I'm willing to pay overtime rates, even though it would be scheduled during normal business hours. This call supremely irritated me, because I had not gone to work because I was led to believe that a tech was going to already be out this morning when they opened. Now, I find out they don't have a time for me yet, and no matter what they are going to charge me overtime rates. I asked for the boss, Brett the boss said you should have scheduled with all the other companies and cancel the others when the first one arrives. Since I wasn't on another companies schedule I really wanted him to make this right by at least guaranteeing me a time this afternoon. He would not do that. So made the mistake of expecting them to show up. I didn't realize that one is expected to make appointments with all the HVAC companies in Wichita and take whoever shows up first. Now I missed work and still have no AC, and still am not on any companies schedule. They price gouge charging OT rates all day if you want to agree to get on the schedule in the next week after being led to believe they would be out already that morning. Lesson learned: schedule appointments with as many companies as you can find and cancel after one show up. -- not how I do business but it is what they expect.
