Lou is awesome. I had a bad kitchen leak that was literally raining water down into my neighbor's unit. Lou was out the next morning and had it fixed a couple days later. He was prompt, professional, explained everything, super friendly, and his rates were totally reasonable. He quoted me on the higher end, explaining that he hoped it would be lower but couldn't guarantee it (it turned out to be $100 lower than expected). If i need work again I am 1000% calling them again and I highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you, Lou!!

Contacted Fastplumbing after water heater went out. I called the original installer a massive and likely well known company, they sent a guy, gave a ridiculous estimate and thought they had me over a barrel, including charging $89 for an inspection without telling me that they were going to.  (BTW, they don't, don't let complaints about miscommunicated costs end at sorry we have to charge and talk to an owner/manager/supervisor)

Mack came well under the estimate over the phone, with pictures. He brought a likely better product, put valves on the pipes, and pointed out how the original installer left the vents for the heater open to the sky which allowed rainwater to catch in the pipes and rust the heater from the inside.

My garbage disposal broke. I figured it could likely he repaired but since garbage disposals are cheap, I figured I would just have it replaced. I called a little before 8am and someone was sent to me by 10:30. I asked for a quote before scheduling a plumber to come out and was told they did not offer phone quotes. Understandable.

The only, and biggest, issue was once the plumber arrived he quoted me $895 to replace a garbage disposal.

I have never in my life heard of a garbage disposal replacement costing that much. I immediately said no. He offered to try to clean it out, I asked how much that would be and was told $395. Again, absolutely not.

I really struggled writing this because while everyone was extremely nice, they were extremely timely, their pricing feels extremely predatory and outlandish. Almost offensive.

I ordered a replacement from home depot for $125 post-tax and paid a plumber from Task Rabbit less than $100.

Look past their charm and avoid overpaying for simple services.

UPDATE: Turned out that I didn't even need a replacement. Lol. My handyman was able to unclog my cheap garbage disposal in 15 minutes.

But your business choices to provide free quotes has nothing to do with me. I simply do not care if you paid for parking or paid your staff hourly to come do an estimate. $900 is absurd. And $400 to unclog is as well.

Now you are commenting ridiculous things under my review. My downtown condo did not need any new pipes, I never even talked to the man about to cost of the garbage disposal, even with quality disposal, $900 was absurd, no one bent over backwards.

Removing one star because there seems to be confusion around what I can AFFORD and what is reasonable.

Our toilet flooded in the middle of the night on a Sunday. I didn't want to risk serious water damage, so I did a quick search & found fast response from Discount Plumbing. I requested a quote on yelp and they responded within minutes & they said a technician can come out & gives me a FREE quote with no obligation. They arrived in minutes and my toilet soon was able to flushing like it was brand new! I appreciate them walking in with booties and walking me through the whole process & answering my questions. Definitely took the customer service to another level with that. Plus, the 10% coupon helped..

Scotty did an outstanding job. He was very easy to communicate with when it came time to schedule the visit. He was prepared and he was on time (in fact he was even early for the follow up visit). He did a good job and explained things very clearly. The prices were very fair and more clearly communicated than other local plumbers we spoke with for our sink issue.

All and all, no complaints, would highly recommend him.

Highly recommend. I had an issue with a drain that needed a creative solution. Thomas was the only plumber / contractor that understood my problem and found a way to fix it. He and his crew rerouted a drain from going inside my house to the storm drain. The project involved demo, new pipe, and new concrete. All the work was of high quality and Thomas communicated effectively throughout the process.

These guys are awesome!

Promptly called me back after my e-mail, kept me updated with the schedule and did AWESOME job unclogging my bathtub.

Eugene and Jorge did a great job replacing my tankless water heater.  They really took their time and did a top notch job.  They really know the Navien products well and their response time and communication were the best of the plumbers I had bid on the project.  Highly recommended.

Unbelievably professional, and they did the work thoroughly, explained every step of the way, and were cordial the entire time they were here. Very competitive pricing, and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking to get some pipe work done.

They advertise serving Chicago yet don't service Chicago.  Big RED flag. If you cannot even define your service area in Yelp how can you be trusted to pay attention to detail when doing plumbing service?  They also replied we only do residential without even bothering to ask if my job was residential or commercial. It IS residential!  Complete joke of a company.

Fantastic; love this company!  I called Kevin the owner when we were  in dire straits.  Another company had come out when our toilet/tub backed up and had told me that we needed to break open the concrete basement floor, change 4 inch pipes to 6 inches pipes... all this before the guy could even clean out the tree roots blockage that was farther down the sewer pipe.  I called Kevin and told him I was in need of a second opinion quickly.  He kindly squeezed me into that schedule the same day which awesome as the plumber who just left said don't use your tub, shower or toilet!  I had heard great things about Green Tech on the Next Door app as well as Yelp reviews.  They were able to get the blockage cleared out before and after the flood control without any issues or breaking open my basement floor.  They sent a camera down and viewed the pipes and all was clear.  This saved us thousands of dollars.  I highly recommend them. They are honest, great equipment (can do what other plumbers cannot with rodding as it's state of the art), his employees are wonderful to work with ~ knowledgeable and great customer service.

They were WONDERFUL! Super communicative over Yelp and the phone; fixed our kitchen sink drain VERY quickly after another company came and failed (and tried to get me to do all sorts of extra other work); were super neat, conscientious, and careful; and were lovely to work with. We're asking them to do other work for us, too. As they walked around looking at our house to help do the estimates, they advised us on different approaches to save money and for better effect. Really loved this company.

This company was great. Very quick to respond to my plumbing needs.  Jesse got me scheduled.  Casey showed up right on time, instructed me in what parts I needed and then once I received them he was back the following day.  I took their card to share with my building as we are always looking for reliable contractors.  Captain Rooter is now one of them.

Encountered an electrical issue while doing some simple DIY projects. Call Sims and Sons without much research given their strong reviews on Yelp. Was extremely happy to find that their service lived up to all the 5 star reviews.

From a service perspective, Derrell was quick to respond and schedule a visit, he showed up on time and completed the work quickly but thoroughly.  He was happy to explain all the issues and how to fix so I can handle the problem in the future. I also brought up an additional issue without an outdoor outlet unrelated to why I had him come out. He was kind enough to carve out an extra hour to get the part he needed and fix the issue so I did not have to pay an extra service fee.

Normally I would not leave a 5 star review for such an easy fix. However, I could tell just how much he cares about the quality of his (and his team's) work. This might sound corny but Derrell lives in the area, he is proud to be local and that attitude is reflected in the quality of his work. He also is not an old-school electrician. He does work in commercial buildings including new restaurants that demand an electrician that knows how to craft lighting in a stylish manner to improve ambiance. This is purely from conversation but he is a one-stop call for both electrical issues and lighting design projects.

If you live on the North side and need an electrician you would be foolish not to start with Sims and Sons, I know I will be using them for any electrical issues or projects in the future!

Requested quotes through Yelp for a toilet install on Sunday night. ABV was the first to respond and had the best price. They showed up at 10 am the next morning and professionally installed the toilet and took away the old one. Couldn't be happier!

We've used CJ Plumbing now for a hot water replacement, faucet replacement and addition of a pump for our hot water heater. Each time they have been easy to reach and schedule with. I appreciate that Dimitry is mindful to save trips and time by properly diagnosing the issue before starting the work. They've fixed our plumbing issues and will be our go-to in the future!

I had a leak in my water heater and put a request on Yelp for a plumber. Juan was the first to respond and gave me a quote over the phone. 30 minutes later, he was at my house doing a hands-on inspection. He came back the next morning with a new water heater. He noticed that some of the pipes attached to the old heater were out of code, so he replaced them at the original price he quoted over the phone, even though the job took much longer than expected.
he noticed a small gas leak coming out of the area where the gas shutoff valve was and he replaced that as well. There was an extra charge, but I was happy to pay it.
I was very impressed with Juan's responsiveness, professionalism and price. I feel like I got more than what was expected for a lot less than I expected to pay. I highly recommend A & Y Plumbing
